Question about 2002 Mazda Tribute

Open Question

My 2005 Mazda Tribute 3.0L needs a tune-up, but I cannot afford to pay a professional to do it. Do I just need to install a new set of spark plugs, or is there more involved? All other regular maintenance and Mazda-recommended maintenance has been performed at my local dealer (serpentine belt & hoses changed, transmission fluid & filter changed, fuel system flushed & new fuel filter, regular oil changes & air filter changes).

SOURCE: Tune up

the 1st tune is due at 100,000 miles and it is just spark plugs, fuel and air filters should be changed every 30,000, 60,000,90,000 and so on. Also the timing belt was due for replacement at 90,000, if u didn't have it done then now is the time before it breaks and causes engine damage.

SOURCE: when slowing down & stopping 2005 Mazda tribute sputters and dies

Sounds like it could possibly be a vaccume problem, the computer sees that the vaccume has a low pressure and thus fludding the engine, or visa versa, it's seeing too high of a pressure and cutting the fuel comsumption to a minumum enough to make the engine sputter and die.. Does this happen when the cars in Netural or Reverse or Park? Just Drive?

You can find the maintenance schedule in the owners manual. If you do not have an owners manual you can pick one up at your dealers parts department.

Hi,this could be a lot of things,I would say to you to first service the car,you need to get these parts done first so you can liminate these from the problem, some times a service with a tune up sorts the problem out,if you cant afford to have it servised then try just changing the spark plugs and air filter,as if the filter is derty when comeing to a stop the fuel air mixture will be wrong so will stall,if spark plugs are worn then when the car comes to a stop the sparkplugs will get wet and stall, hope this was some help.

2001 mazda tribute misfire on #5 after tune up with all new coils

Could be a bad spark plug or bad injector.
You could switch plugs with another cylinder to eliminate the plugs.
Same thing with the injectors.

Cannot locate plugs or wires

there is no wires this truck has over head coils for each cylinder. they are bolted to the top of the valve cover and go down through the valve cover to the spark plug.

Sparkplugs

sadly the front are easy after ,you remove the coils however, the rear three are a real pain and a 1/2 days work to get to.  You have to remove the intake manifold.  Use the best plugs you can afford as you want to eliminate the need to go back there again too soon.  I waited until 70K to replace mine.
