It should be under the hood of the vehicle or in your owners manual.

1996 chevy impala power steering not working

The easy solution will be the excess fluid has allowed the belt to slip enough and not turn the pump fast enough to enable the steering to work. Make sure the belt as clean and free of the fluid (carb cleaner works great). Turn on the car when you do it so you get even coverage. You can also apply a belt dressing to aid in the belt maintaining "traction". If that is not the problem then you might have burned the pump up from running low or the pump just died at the same time of adding the fluid. Some of pumps can be rebuilt by you for cheaper then the cost of a new one. Just ask the parts store for prices on both.

Is the serpentine belt diagram the same for a 2006 Chevy impala SS 5.3 as it is for a 3.9?

No, not even close. I have included belt routing diagrams for both. The first one should be the SS 5.3L which has a lot more pulleys.

Hope this helps. Good luck !duckfreak871.png duckfreak871_0.png

Help! I'm stuck and stumped. 2001 Beetle GLS 2.0 - Two weeks ago the car was overheating quickly, red temperature light flashing and beeping. I changed the thermostat, flushed the radiator and filled it...

SOUND LIKE COOLANT FANS HAS A FAULTY THERMO SWITCH LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RADIATOR ON LEFT HAND SIDE.CHECK THE FUSES 8 IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CHECK FUSE 16 IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX.WHEN ENGINE OVERHEATING IF BOTH COOLING FANS WORKING.OVERHEATING PROBLEM COULD BE BLOWN HEAD GASKET.CHECK ENGINE OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK HEAD GASKET LEAKING.SEE WHEN YOU DRIVING LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS THE COOLING FANS SUPPOSE TO BE RUNNING.IF THEY NOT RUNNING THAT IS YOUR OVER HEATING PROBLEM.

Had an oil change about a month ago and about 5 weeks later motor is gone. No oil light came on, no oil leaks

WELL NO OIL LEAKS.WARRANTY MIGHT COVER IT BUT YOU NEED TO SHOW ALL OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS.ALSO YOU HAVE TO USE GM MOTOR OIL LIKE 5W - 30 VALVOLINE USE GM OIL FILTERS.THEY WILL CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU BEEN KEEPING UP WITH SERVICE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE SCHEDULES.CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK SHOULD BE AT FULL MARK LINE. THE CHEVY COBALT LS LT LTZ 2.2 ENGINE HOLDS 5.0 QUARTS OF OIL WITH NEW FILTER AND CHEVY COBALT SS SC HOLDS 6.0 QUARTS WITH NEW FILTER.IF OIL LEVEL LOOK OKAY.CHECK ON INTERNET FOR ANY RECALLS OR ANY TROUBLE WITH EARLY OIL PUMP FAILURE.

'07 Impala SS - just lost 2 quarts of oil this week!

hard answer most cars start using oil about 100,000
but not that much about a qt every oil change
fill you engine with the rignt amount of oil then in a week check it again... if you are low you have a problem ( if you have a pcv in that car have it changed if not there should be a crankcase purge to the air ram system have that checked if that fails you definitly have a piston oil ring that is bad
try using some lucas oil stabliser will help a lot..
you can get it at autozone i believe

Engine light comes on and says engine overheating

Could be three things: Hopefully the first...
1. radiator fan not blowing. (most likely)
2. Radiator clogged (not likely)
3. Head gasket blown... (very possible)

If #1, system cannot detect fan not blowing. It may be the fuse or the relay switch, disconnecetd wire at fan, or burned-out fan motor.
If #2, Flush radiator
If #3, you will see WHITE smoke out the tailpipe and excessive water drops.
Your new oil will have a "milky" look (check the oil dipstick). That is water.
When engine is COLD, remove radiator cap and start car. You will notice high-pressure "bubbles" squirt out of the radiator, even before the engine warms up.

I hope it is #1. and that this is helpful.

Heater core instructions for 04 Chevy Impala SS

Before you go thru that expense. If it is water leaking, check the evaporator. Sometimes it gets plugged with debris. So first, decide if it is water or anti-freeze. Also, I have taken the heater hoses off of the inside of the motor area and flushed the core out. It works on some.

Loosing oil in 06 impala SS

First, do you see oil leaking on your driveway? Have you looked under the car and checked to see if any oil is dripping?A rear main seal will drip down the front cover plate of the transmission sometimes from the inside, appearing like a front seal leak on your transmission but the oil will not be red fluid you would expect if that were the case. I would not worry about rear main unless you see a leak there. Look your entire engine over and check for leaks everywhere. Several small leaks can add up to an overall large oil loss. Correct the larger ones first.
Generally all seals will last far longer if you change your oil frequently using a good quality lubricant. If you are loosing some oil, use one of the oils made for high mile engines. I suggest you use a mild additive like marvel oil 1pint with every oil change...it removes sludge, carbon and varnish buildup without the drawback of knocking it loose all at once, where it could plug up your oil pump screen. (it also smells good) Change oil every 3000 miles for the first three or four intervals, then consider using a good synthetic oil. Synthetics far outperform any other lubricant in every area! Avoid overheating your engine...overheating does more damage to seals than any single other item...When seals get very hot they harden up, crack and fail.
Good luck with your car!!!

2005 chevy impala power steering leak problem

What you hae to do is check if the reservoir is leaking first if okthen it is either the piping or the steering pump. It is a process of elimination, you may need to clean the area first to discover where the leak is or work back from the point it is leaking on the belt. Until you identify where the leak is coming from it will be dificult to repair unless you just start to replace the pump and reservoir any way.
