Question about 1993 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

E320 air conditioner

I replaced my e320 compressor & evaporator & suction valve, but still not blowing cold. Now the internal temperature control wheel has no effect if you turn it cold or hot (up or down). No satisfaction from try and try again mechanics in saudi arabia. It's over 100F here every day! PLSE HELP!!! :-)

I had the same car till last year ,, but my Ac was not original fitted , pipes ,,,, all copper !! it suppose to be other material like aluminium.

By the way which model is your car, i,m talking about my old 93 E280

Wht is a TXV


Simply it's a valve in a refrigeration system that controls or meters how much coolant is allowed into the evaporator.
A thermal expansion valve (often abbreviated as TEV, TXV, or TX valve) is a component in refrigeration and air conditioning systems that controls the amount of refrigerant flow into the evaporator thereby controlling the superheating at the outlet of the evaporator. Thermal expansion valves are often referred to generically as "metering devices".
A thermal expansion valve is a key element to a heat pump; the cycle that makes air conditioning, or air cooling, possible. A basic refrigeration cycle consists of four major elements, a compressor, a condenser, a metering device and an evaporator. As a refrigerant passes through a circuit containing these four elements, air conditioning occurs. The cycle starts when refrigerant enters the compressor in a low pressure, low temperature, gaseous form. The refrigerant is compressed by the compressor to a high pressure-and-temperature gaseous state. The high pressure-and-temperature gas then enters the condenser. The condenser precipitates the high pressure-and-temperature gas to a high pressure liquid by transferring heat to a lower temperature medium, usually ambient air. The high pressure liquid then enters the expansion valve where the TX valve allows a portion of the refrigerant to enter the evaporator. In order for the higher temperature fluid to cool, the flow must be limited into the evaporator to keep the pressure low and allow expansion back into the gas phase. The TXV has sensing bulbs connected to the suction line of the refrigerant piping. The sensing bulbs give temperature readings to the TXV to adjust flow of refrigerant.[2]

My 1996 Lexus ES300 ac blows cold for a while then starts blowing warm air. Then I turn it off for a while


There are a number of possibilities.
1. If the compressor has a clutch, do you hear it engaging and disengaging?
2. The valve controlling the hot water going to the heater which mixes warm air with the cold air from the evaporator, is not working properly so it si not maintaining proper temperature.
3. THe temperature sensor that senses air temp at the intake to the AC in the cabin is defective.
4. THis is too comlicated to fix yourself, so you need to take it to an AC expert who knows this particular model.

1996 Plymouth Breeze air conditioner not blowing cold air. Replaced compressor, replaced accumulator, replaced a/c block on firewall, recovered and recharged system. Why is the compressor still not kicking...


Your problem is most likely electrical. Check the A/C clutch relay, it is located in the fuse box in the engine compartment. You can also check the A/C high pressure switch or the evaporator temperature sensor.

98 buick century AC blows cold air on passenger side and hot air on drivers side..when we recharged the unit, it worked cold air for a few days and now blowing hot air again.


Hi. There seems to be a blockage within the system. I will list all parts to be checked by your mechanical. I would also have the blend door linkages or servos inspected for fail points along with the listed areas of concern, below:

Loose or broken drive belt
Inoperative compressor or slipping compressor clutch
Defective expansion valve
Clogged expansion valve, receiver-drier or liquid refrigerant line
Blown fuse
Leaking component: any of the parts listed above or one of the A/C lines, hoses or seals.

Instruct your mechanic to check all the above, along with the dash blend door linkages for faults.

Air conditioner in 1999 mercury tracer won't work. It's not the compressor nor does it have a leak. what could be the problem?


the tracer is the same as the ESCORT, right?? TRY THIS--I WORK ON PLENTY OF ESCORTS--LOOK UNDER THE AIR CLEANER/CONE ASSEMBLY--THERE WILL BE A BLACK METAL BOX(FULL OF RELAYS) ONE OF WHICH IS THE A/C RELAY--TRY TAPPING ON IT WITH A LONG SCREWDRIVER OR SOMETHING SIMILAR WHILE U HAVE THE A/C ON. IF THE A/C SUDDENLY STARTS WORKING U NEED TO GET A NEW RELAY BOX(I THINK ITS CALLED A GEM MODULE) i do have a question- does the blower motor work?? how do u know the compressor is good??do you have 12 volts going to it??? this relay box is pretty common to go bad--u have to remove the air cleaner in order to get to it.get back to me.

I have a 2001 yukon with a front and rear air conditioner. The front works great the rear does not blow cold air?

Air Conditioner Problem


the most common problem here is a defective air temperature control blend door actuator, this is what moves the door that controls air flow across the heater core or the ac evaporator core, to replace this requires u remove the dash assembly.

Air conditioning blowing hot air


ok could be one of 3 things. 1 you may be out of freon. (proly spelt that wrong) 2. compresser could be bad. 3 the clutch on your compresser might not be engaging. when trucks running turn ac on and see if the front of your compresser spins or not. if it does clutch is good. but it could be that your compresser is still bad. either way i recomend you go for freon and start there. when they fill it they will tell you for sure wether or not your compresser is bad.

Aircondition blows hot air on normal but blows cold air on max


The temp blend door rotates between allowing heat through the heater core, or cold air through the a/cevaporator, or a blending of the 2 by being anywhere between the two.

I would check the heater a/c control head first and hope it's just the control head.

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION A/C-Heater System, Manual The manual air conditioning/heater system used in these vehicles is a split-case, blend air design. This design includes the following major components:
  • An A/C evaporator housing (19850) which is attached to the engine compartment side of the dash panel (01610). This assembly includes: (1) the A/C evaporator core (19860), (2) the suction accumulator/drier (19C836), (3) the A/C cycling switch (19E561), (4) an internal, A/C evaporator core orifice (19D990) located inside the inlet line to the A/C evaporator core, (5) a blower motor (18527), (6) a blower motor wheel (18504), (7) a heater blower motor switch resistor (18591), and (8) the A/C evaporator case (19897).
  • A heater air plenum chamber (18471) which attaches to the passenger compartment side of the dash panel. This assembly includes: (1) the outside/recirculating air inlet door, (2) the panel door, (3) the floor defrost door, (4) the temperature blend door, and (5) the heater core (18476).
  • Other components which link and/or control the heating and air conditioning systems include: (1) the A/C control (19980), (2) the ducts and registers, (3) the windshield defroster hose nozzle (18490), (4) the control cables, (5) the vacuum lines, (6) the refrigerant tubes and hoses, (7) the A/C compressor (19703), and (8) the A/C condenser core (19712).

The A/C control (19980) assembly consists of three main parts:
  • The function selector knob, a vacuum selector valve combined with an internal electrical switch.
  • Heater blower motor switch (18578), an electrical switch that provides four speeds of A/C blower motor operation.
  • A temperature control knob, which controls the position of the temperature blend door mounted on A/C evaporator housing (19850) assembly.

Temperature Control
The temperature selector actuates a variable resistance switch. This switch varies the voltage to an electric actuator used to position the temperature blend door. Positioning the temperature control in any position between COOL and WARM causes the temperature blend door to direct more or less outside air through or around the heater core (18476) for whatever proportion of heated or unheated outside air is desired. The air blends together as it leaves the heater core and enters the heater air plenum chamber (18471) for distribution.

System Airflow Description Air is drawn into the system by the blower motor (18527) through the outside-recirc. door opening. The air is blown through the A/C evaporator core (19860) and then the heater core (18476) (when the temperature control is moved toward the WARM position). When the temperature blend door is in the maximum COOL position, the air bypasses the heater core. When the temperature control is moved to the right, away from the maximum COOL position, air passes through the heater core where it is warmed, and then mixed with the cool air before it is discharged through the registers. OFF
With the function selector in the OFF position, the outside-recirc. door is in the recirculated air position. It is closed to outside air and no air passes through the system. The blower motor is off. MAX A/C
NOTE: No temperature modulation is possible in the MAX A/C position.

In the MAX A/C position, the outside-recirc. air door is in the recirculated air position. All of the air discharges through the panel registers except for a small amount of floor bleed. The A/C compressor (19703) operates in this function control setting.

You have to almost remove the dash to get this part out.
Removal
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  1. NOTE: Refer to Section 01-12 for instrument panel removal and installation procedure.

    Loosen instrument panel (04320) and pull back from cowl.
  1. Remove A/C electronic door actuator motor electrical connector from bracket on A/C evaporator housing.
  1. Remove three A/C electronic door actuator motor retaining screws.
  1. NOTE: The mounting bracket remains in place on the A/C evaporator housing.

    Lift A/C electronic door actuator motor vertically approximately 12mm (1/2 inch) to disengage it from bracket and actuator shaft, then pull A/C electronic door actuator motor back toward passenger compartment.
