The maint req'd light goes on when your vehicle is due for an oil change. If you've recently changed your oil - sometimes your mechanic won't reset the built in tracking settings for when you are due for another oil change. Here's how you can reset it.

Turn ignition to "ACC" and press the odometer button until the display reads actual mileage (not Trip A or B).
Turn ignition off.
Hold the same button down that you used in step 1.
While holding the button, turn ignition to 'ON'.
The 'Maint Reqd' light should blink and go out.
Done!

2008 Highlander Maint Req'd reset proceedure

This is the reset proceedure for a 2008 Highlander with a key-type ignition:

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine.

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "TRIP A". If it is on "ODO" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "TRIP A".

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it IN.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON, do not start the engine

Observe the Odometer display. You will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, whatever number that was displayed on "TRIP A" will be re-displayed..

Now release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.

Light on screen says REQ. MAINT.

Could be as easy as your car is due for an oil change (if that hasn't been done within the required interval (check your owners manual). If that is not the problem, I suggest taking it to a mechanic that you trust, that has a computer that he can hook to your car to find out exactly what the problem is........ As it could be quite a few different things

What prompts the toyota highlander 2008 maint even after service

the light has to be reset you serviced the car before it was time and the light was not reset then. on the highlander im not sure how to reset it im thinking that all you have to do is turn the key to the on posistion and step on the gas pedal 3 times or you have to push the trip counter in and hold it for 15 seconds if neither one of these works take it to your service center they should be able to reset it for free.

There is ligth sing that say maint reoqd what thats mean?

The "Maint Reqd" light is designed to illuminate every 5,000 miles

This is your 'oil-change-is-due' reminder light.

If you recently had the oil changed, and the light came on, the light was not reset. The light must be manually reset after each oil change; it does not reset automatically.

We hope that this helps you out..

Ligth on in the dust board maint rejd

factory settings to alert you of routine maintenance intervals, not the same as "check engine" which instead indicates a problem. The reset for this is w/ the key off, hold in your trip button on the odometer, while holding it in turn the key so that everything powers on, don't start it, just turn the key forward, while still holding the trip button in, watch the "maint req'd" light, after about 10 secs it will go out, then release the trip button, thats it.
