Car starts but rattles then dies right away - 2001 Lincoln LS

When your car dies out, check for fuel pressure and bright blue sparks, also when it dies right out will it start up with starting fluid right away and run for a few seconds and die?

Starter or solenoid. My neighbour the 'car whisperer' tapped mine with a hammer and it worked for a few more trips. It eventually died away from home.

i have a chevy malibu . ican start it but it dies right away .i have changed the fuel pump and the fuel filltor. i am not getting aqny gas.

It was a bad timing chain pulley. Don't wait too long before fixing that!

I would start with checking the fuel filter. After taking it off try blowing through it. Should be very little resistance.

The Nissan motor that came as a V6 will rattle on start up if it has the wrong oil filter on it or the wrong oil or oil that needs changed badly 10-40 resists rattle better than 5-30 and works good in motors that have some miles on them. Does the oil light go out right away when the motor starts? Change the oil first with the right oil filter before you try anything else.

check your starter and see if it is loose, this will cause it (starter) to use more amperage to start which leaves less amperage for the rest of the electrical system (maybe the long start problem too), hope this helps, let me know
