Question about Kia Optima

1 Answer

My 2007 Kia Optima has 63,000 miles on it. I have had to replace the rear brakes at approx. 25,000 miles. I now have to replace them again at 63,000 miles. The back rotors are warped and need to be replaced, possibly for the second time, I'm not sure. The repair shop says the front brakes look new. Since most braking is done by the front brakes, I can't understand this opposite wear situation. Please advise what you think is wrong and how to fix it. Thank you, Andy

I had the same problem with my 2007 kia optima. Replaced the pads at about 30k, The pads tend to get stuck and not fully release from the rotor. I took mine to the dealership at around 45k and they replaced the calipers and pads under warranty. According to the dealership the rear brakes are suppose to be serviced every 15k to prevent this from happening

How to replace top (3rd) brake light on Kia Optima 2007

This answer makes a mountain out of a mole hill! There are two screws directly under the light accessible from the trunk (in two hole, the wires come out of one of them)- just unscrew and you can manuever out without taking off the whole back panel.

Mileage per gallan isn't what it used to be

There are a few factors that affects fuel mileage, your vehicle is still pretty New and all emission related components should still be functioning at the peak performance. here is a check list of other items that may will affect fuel economy, from this list you will be able to determine what may be affecting yours.
  1. LOW TIRE PRESSURE or bigger tire size.
  2. VEHICLE IN NEED OF MINOR TUNE-UP SPARKPLUGS+ AIR FILTER.
  3. CHANGE IN DRIVING HABBIT(driving faster on highway) OR MORE LOCAL STREET DRIVING or carring more loads.
  4. Brakes hanging up or not releasing completely while driving (not very usual but possible).
  5. IF you added a rear spoiler/wing/wind deflector etc.
Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA.
