The starter sounds like it has a bad solenoid, but in this case the starter will have to be replaced to get a new solenoid and starter together.

If the battery is new and the connections are good, then a starter should fire the car right up.
In this case it is not, so I would say it's a starter.

I assume you were having trouble starting the vehicle, so changed the battery.

I went to start my car it would turn over but wouldnt start what would cause this it isnt the battery i drive a 1995 infiniti j30

The starter won't crank. If nothing happens when you turn the ignition key to the "Start" position, it means that the starter motor doesn't turn over the engine. Most commonly this could be caused by a dead battery; here is How to check the battery. ... The starter motor itself or a starter solenoid could be bad.13 Aug 2013

Will not start

It seems that something was burned out trying to make the starter turn. The problem could be the starter and/or the solenoid.

Go to youtube and enter, "how to check a starter" you may have to remove it to check it. I could tell you how. But it is better if you see how it's done for yourself. Also check the fuses.

Car working fine, suddenly wont start

Be sure it is in fact the right gas cap. Often when you purchase from someone like bumper to bumper etc the parts people get the wrong info. I suggest you go direct to the dealership pickup a cap and see if that solves the problem.

start with checking ignition switch on the side of column just above break paddle most cars have a rod going to a starter switch there , make sure it s in the hole. adjust by mounting bolts. check loose bolts on starter wires.

I bought a new battery but my car still wouldnt start

You may have a defective starter solenoid, this is the common symptom, a click and no engine turn over. Have a shop diagnose this before any parts are replaced but i feel sure the starter solenoid is the problem here. The solenoid is mounted to the top of the starter motor which is bolted into the transmission's bell housing.

could very well be the starter. in some caese the starter will work fine until it gets hot and in some cases it just simply goes out. might have someone tap the starter while trying to start it and if it does then this would indicate bad starter...good luck

Spelling was fine, along with grammar and punctuation-you should see some of the mangled illegible questions we have to decipher, or try to!

But thanks for the follow-up on your problem and the solution. Who would have thought was just the battery? Responses like yours are great encouragement to keep going.

Did you get the right starter? Did you put the starter straight? Did you lock the screw evenly? where this noise from? You mentioned the noise like high pitch grinding noise, is it from the starter area or flying wheel?
