There is something wrong with way you described the problem. If there was no fuel pressure, the computer would assume that the line was broken and that gas is spraying all over the place. So if there is no pressur the computer will shut off the fuel pump.

Fuel pump works, new filter, gas is coming out past filter but not getting to the Compression tester. I changed the vacum valve on the gas rail. What next?

The presence of fuel isn't enough.

Fuel must be delivered in sufficient quantity at a sufficient pressure and this can only be checked with a fuel pressure test and a volume delivery test.

Not getting gas to carb

It could be. Since you have a carburetor, you must have a mechanical fuel pump on the engine? Only some imports with carburetors had an electrical pump.

If your filter is in the line just before the carburetor, take the line off at the filter, then crank the engine over to see if the pump is working. Mechanical fuel pumps will pump gas when the engine is cranking or running. Use a jar or can to catch the gas. If pump is working, fuel will come out in small spurts. It's not under high pressure- carbs don't need high pressure. If no gas comes out of the line, you probably need a new fuel pump. If the pump is working, it could be the filter, but could also be the needle valve and seat at the carb's fuel inlet. Sometimes they get stuck closed and won't let gas into the carburetor.

I have a 98 Camaro I put a fuel pump in fuel filter an my car still won't start.Do thank the gas line clog up?

If you know for a fact the pump is getting power and ground, and nothing is coming out of the line before the filter, then yes the line could be clogged up.

Low fuel rail pressure

It could be a poor performing pump, a pump filter sock that is partially clogged, or a bad pressure regulator. Have the fuel system pressure checked to see if it's the pump or the pressure regulator.

Will not start put fuel in carb and started and turned off fuel pump is good think it might be pcm

CHECK FUEL PUMP PRESSURE. SHOULD BE 41 - 47 PSI. IF FUEL PRESSURE REAL LOW CHANGE FUEL FILTER.STILL LOW FUEL PUMP FAULTY. IF FUEL PUMP NOT RUNNING CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE OR RELAY.IF ALL IS GOOD FUEL PUMP BAD. HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED WITH A SCANNER BEFORE BUYING NEW PARTS. LOOK FOR FUEL PUMP FAULT CODES AND PCM FAULT CODES.

How do you change a fuel filter

First remove fuel pump relay, start engine till it dies, that's to release fuel pressure, go under van, remove both small clips at each end of fuel filter, new filter should come with new clips, remove clamp around fuel filter, then install new one, make sure that the outlet end of the fuel filter, points the the front of the truck.

Engine light was on and van was running rough. The local repair center says that it needs a new fuel pump (2 of 6 sensors are receiving low fuel pressure ratings). I keep getting different answers on what...

First check the pressure at the fuel rail at the top of the engine with a fuel pressure gauge these ar fairly expensive for what they are about a 100$ so if you can borrow one it would be great. doing this ensures you truly have low fuel pressure instead of a sensor or electrical problem. If the pressure is low, Id start with the easiest cheapest thing first should be the fuel filter if it is in line, if its in the fuel pump itll be harder, might think about doing both pump and filter at same timeif this is your case, also theres a fuel pressure regulator located at begging of fuel rail should be about forty dollars but easy to replace. fuel pumps generally just die and dont loose pressure, It is rare for a fuel pump to lose pressure so id replace it last.

My volkwaon Jetta wont start. I think the fuel

It is in the fuel tank and normally you can check the pump by either listening for it to pressurize just as you turn the key or have a pressure test done which requires a pressure tester and you have to find out what the required PSI is for that vehicle. Good Luck
