Question about 1998 Volkswagen Beetle

I have a 98 gas bug and when it is wet or raining it works terrible. It seems to get better after running for a bit, but still sputters when you give it gas????

You might need a tune up, new plugs and plug wires. I'd check the cap and rotor also.

Anti lock light on-runs rough


I would suggest you take the vehicle to your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and have the diagnostic codes pulled. Reply back to this solution and we can go from there.

I would guess per your description, and this is only a guess until you have the codes pulled, you may have a secondary ignition system problem. If the spark plug wires, spark plugs and module / coil pack are old or original, when they get wet the ignition spark "leaks" to ground and causes the stumble or miss. The ABS light will come on because of the miss because it is disabling traction control.

Possible water in the gas tank


need to bleed the fuel line agian, change the fuel filter and get a gas cap from any auto shop. or from ebay.com

98 Saturn SL 1 sputters


Have a scanner hooked up to your car and do a data stream to see if your knock sensor is still working. On a heavy load, if the ECM detects detenation in the engine, it will automatically want to ****** the timing to make it run better on a load.
