Looks like your fuel supply line is either weak, or blocked or your fuel pump could be slightly worn out. Might also be your fuel filter, that blocks the right amount of fuel of reaching the chambers.

Changing battery positive pole sparked . Engine starts but it immediately gets off. Still have the lock symbol on the dash .


That was a reset, try a relearn. You'll need a charger on the battery. Ten minutes on, thirty seconds off. Do this three times, then try to start. If that doesn't work, then it has to go on a scanner to see what happened. Sparks like yours usually don't hurt anything. But they can spike and burn a computer. Next time put the positive side on first.

Why wont my engine start when its turning over? fuelpump works


Did you check for spark? Is the security light on? If security is set. Turn the truck on for ten minutes, off for thirty seconds, Then start. This is a reset. There is a relearn also. It is three times this, start after the third time.

My 1985 mercruiser motor runs great for thirty minutes then starts missing and stalls out. After thirty minutes the motor restarts and runs for another thirty minutes before the cycle repeats itself.


Have you checked that the fuel tank vent that allows air into the tank is open? I had a motorcycle do something similar. Fast way to check is to take the fuel tank cap completely off and see what she does.

I would also check to make sure that all the fuel lines are good, no kinks etc,

The Passlock family has two basic relearn procedures-a ten-minute procedure and a thirty-minute procedure-and which one you use depends on the system and what components have been replaced.

The ten-minute procedure involves trying to start the engine. If nothing happens or the engine starts and dies, the security light will be flashing. Wait ten minutes. The flashing light should go off or illuminate without flashing. When it does, turn the ignition off, wait twenty seconds, and then try to start the engine. If it starts and runs, everything is okay. If you get the same result as previously-nothing happens or the engine starts and dies with the security light flashing-wait ten more minutes.

You will now begin the thirty-minute relearn procedure, which is just the ten-minute procedure repeated three times. After turning the ignition off for the third time and waiting for twenty seconds, the engine should start and run. If it doesn't, there may still be something wrong with the system.

After the learn procedure is completed and the engine is running, the security light may stay on steady for a few minutes and then go off-this is normal. Depending on the system, replacement of key components will necessitate that a relearn procedure be completed. These include the ignition lock cylinder, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Body Control Module (BCM), or Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) ............ .Logic lock-up is an internal software issue within a control module which may be cleared by disconnecting and reconnecting the affected module (re-booting the system).

Electronic control modules can develop internal software issues which can cause erratic or no operation of the affected module. In most cases the module can be restored to proper operation by electrically disconnecting and reconnecting the affected module, just as you would reboot your home computer when it begins acting strangely.

Repeated Logic Lock-up failures of the same module would normally warrenty replacement of the affected module.

I have a 1997 2.5 jeep wrangler.when you first start the engine it runs and sounds fine, then after about 20 seconds it begins to have a knocking sound only at idle. when you press the gas you cant hear...


It may be piston slap. This is caused by either engine wear with the piston bores being too large for the pistons, or by poor manufacturing tolerances, or a combination of both.

To test for this, start the engine up first thing in the morning and run it for about thirty seconds while you listen carefully and memorise the sound and intensity. Turn the engine off quickly, remove the spark plugs and put two squirts of motor oil into each cylinder. Reinstall the plugs, start the engine up again and listen. If you have piston slap the noise will have been greatly reduced or even eliminated for about thirty seconds seconds and then returns.

The fix is to rebuild or replace the engine, but if it works just fine then don't worry. Many slappy engines keep going for tens of thousands more mile. The fact that your knocking is only at idle suggests your crankshaft is not to blame.

Check engine light is flashing and the car is missing mainly when the car is stopped in drive or parked. This happen a few hours after spraying the engine down. From it being wet would cause this?


Dear Wet And Missing.........The answer to your question is yes. Many a times when that time comes to clean an engine off this exact same problem arrises. It is normally a misfire concern that is caused by......YOU GUESSED IT!!!!! WATER!! If you haven't already done so let the car naturally dry by itself....normally a good afternoon will be adequate enough for the drying process to take place.When you go to start the vehicle up again the engine light will normally still be on......as this is now a stored code in the computer.If the vehicle is running fine and not missing anymore you are more than likely sittin pretty......you can now simply and easily erase the code in your computer if it is still on...simply remove your negative battery cable lead and leave it off for about thirty seconds.Reinstall the lead...and you're good to go. Please keep in mind if you have a factory radio to make sure that you do have the unlock code for the radio before you disconnect the battery.....this will let you turn the radio back on so you can enjoy your music while cruisin down the road without any misfires!!!!
