Have you checked the fuses yet? The low beams use 2 different fuse for the left and right lamps. The fuse for the left lamp is #10 in the central junction box located behind the dash to the left of the steering column.

    Sorry forgot to mention that it is a 10A fuse. The right headlight is fuse #4, by the way.

What would cause the low beam headlight not to work when all other lights work?

If you have standard halogen bulbs:

  1. Burned out light bulb; or
  2. Fried wires between the dashboard wiring harness and the headlight bulb connectors; or
  3. Fried headlight bulb connectors.
If you have HEI emitters:
  • Failed ballast.

Right low beam stopped working, where is the ground wire run to check that

Do the high beams work?

The ground point is on the apron ( the inside of the fender, just behind the headlight). There is one on each side. From the wiring diagram, there is just a splice connecting power to the lights in parallel for the high and low beams, but the grounds are separate.

If the RH high beam and the LH low beam works, then it is not a ground problem. You could just tap the LH wires to power the RH, but I think that if you look closely the connector for the bulb is probably melted. If that is the case then you will have to splice on a new connector.

The colors are as follows:

RH --> low beam power ( light blue)
LH --> low beam power (white OR light blue)
BOTH high beams --> ( red/white stripe)
Ground --> Black

Sorry, The diagram is too large a file to upload.

High beams arent working

Sounds like the high beam switch is bad. It is located in conjunction with your turn signal.

I have a 1995 Ford Explorer Limited and the high beams work but the low beams and fog lights do not, please help....

These trucks are known for bad multifuction switches.
the switch that i talk of is the signal switch , the handle is the switch, it bolts to side of steering column . this switch controls the signals and the headlights and high /low beams. the other thing is the headlight switch connector, the connector some times goes bad and starts to melt or just comes out of the connector. you will need to remove the cover to steering column, the screws are located under the bottom cover in holes. remove cover and check connector and then test for power if you have power going into switch but not coming out then switch is bad.

the last thing is to make sure the bulbs are good , make sure the headlight bulbs are good , and also the driving light bulbs, test for power at the connectors to those lights to.
You will need to do a little testing to find the problem.

My light problem is i have low beam on right side no low on left side i turn highs on and right side goes out and high on left turns on then when back to lows beams and i pull turn signal to flash high...

If you have separate bulbs for the low and high beams(4 light system), if you pull the turn signal and hold it, all 4 lights will stay on until you release the turn signal. You need to replace the bright bulb on the right side and the low bulb on the left side. If your headlights only have one bulb on each side, then you will have to replace both of them to get everything to work.

Low beams only work sometimes

Remove the plastic trim from around steering column so you can access the wires to the multi-function switch(turn signal switch).The RD/YE wire is the feed from the headlamp switch for low beams,it then leaves the multi-function switch on the RD/BK wire and feeds fuses no. 10 and 4 in the under dash fuse panel and from there to the headlamps right side is the DB/LG and left side is the WH/LG. Get you a 12V test light and make sure you have voltage in these places. I suspect that the multi-function switch itself has gone bad since you stated that they would work at times when you activated the turn signals.

Headlights, high beams

No as a rule they don't fail at the same time, in fact it is unusual for the hi beam to fail ever, the problem is most likely in the turn signal/multifunction switch, this does cause your problem, have seen it many times.
