Most of the Accords ARE interference motors, however, I had a 92 Accord that broke a timing belt on the highway, and was able to get it running again just by replacing the belt. It had a slight tick,, but was a manual trans, so I ran it at high rpms for about 25 miles and it heated the valve stems up a bit and helped to straighten them out so the tick got alot quieter. Lemme know if this helps. Good luck!

I have an Isuzu kb 350 and has a broken timing belt and now is failing to start because of not sure of piston position in relation to dual camshafts

be VERY careful! Most engines are interference motors and a bust timing belt results in catastrophic failure when the valves contact the pistons because they are out of sync!

Timing belts usually come with markings - you would almost certainly find the compression TDC for cylinder 1 (not exhaust TDC - if the air blows thru plug hole when piston is rising its compression - if the air is NOT blowing out plug hole its exhaust tdc - rotate once more).

Now you will have to find the timing marks on the camshaft(s) and set according to the manual.

List interference engines

Nancy, there are four different engines available for your car. I need more information from you to give you an answer. I need to know what the 8th digit of your car's VIN [vehicle identification number] code is. It will be either 3 5 P or Z. Reply with that info and I can answer your question.

There is no indication in the parts book that it is an interference engine. Most of the time engines with timing chains are not.

300M 3.5 V6 2001 CHRYSLER JUMPED TIMING BELT OR BROKE CAR JUST QUIT AT STOP LIGHT

This engine is what is known as an interference engine, so if the timing belt lets go like this you most likely have bent engine valves and or piston crown damage. The best advice i can give is have a new belt, water pump and automatic tensioner pulley installed and see if it starts, you may get lucky, my wife did when hers let go a year before I meant er. You can purchase a timing belt "kit" with all the parts here is the part number and price.

I have a 2003 kia sportage 2000cc can anyone tell me if the engine on this is a interference or none interference It is registered september 2003 the timing belt has broken and I need to know if the...

The term interference refers to the valves being in the way of the pistons when they move to the top of the cylinder. When the timing belt breaks, the valves will stay in the position they were in when the belt broke, they will not move or "Drop". either way you still need to move the crank and the cam to the alignment positions before installing a new belt. To manually check, you can remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over by hand. it is not too too hard and if you don't hear or feel anything stopping you from turning it by hand then you are in luck, it is a non interference engine. Assuming the engine was running when it broke you should have hear some loud banking if it was an interference engine. The best information i can find says, YES, this is an interference engine.

Is the 2.0 a interference motor.

The older ABA engine code is not an interference motor. If the belt broke at low RPM there should be no problems. I have replaced a number of broken belts with no problems, but have heard there may be issues at high engine speeds.
