You'll need to take it to a shop - Cadillac is notorious for no room to work! You may have a bad motor and or transmission mount and need to have them inspected. If you want to try, bear in mind the following can be DANGEROUS so exercise extreme caution. Open the hood and look closely for a metal and rubber assembly that goes from the motor to the vehicle. There may be 1 on each side ( passenger and driver) and 1 to the rear of the vehicle or more, depending on the motor / transmission size and configuration.Visual inspection rarely shows anything, so you'll need to set the park brake and block the wheels. Have your helper start the vehicle and as you watch the engine closely while standing to the SIDE of the car have your helper shift into reverse with their foot firmly on the brake. Watch how much the engine moves as the transmission engages. Now have your helper push on the gas approximately 1/4 pedal - you'll see the engine rock in 1 direction the more your helper accelerates. Return the car to idle and shift into drive - you'll probably notice the engine lurching in the opposite direction. the difference should be nominal ( no more than an inch or so) . If your engine does not move excessively you'll need to take it to your local shop to have your driveline or cv shafts inspected. If it does move too much, you may want to again take it to the shop as a mount change can be involved and easy to ahve problems.
Hope this helps!

My nissan pulsar 2000 automatic.gear lever sticks in park.

Hi Jenn. All vehicles have a shifter interlocker system , it's a safety feature that won't allow the shifter to be put into gear ,unless the drivers foot is pressing the brake pedal . Do your brake lights work ? This is just a general idea on how it works , because all car makes don't do it the same ! On the brake pedal under the dash is a switch an when you press the brake pedal it allows power to go to a solenoid unlocking the shifter ,allowing the driver to put the vehicle into gear ! You would need to find a wiring diagram so you could check voltage at the brake switch , into an out of the brake switch with the pedal pushed ! Then find the lock out solenoid an see if power is being applied to it ! Hope this helps

My gear shifter gets stuck in park..on my 2008 dodge caliber

All cars have a release button on the shift column for towing. Look for a little square or circle nee your shifter that you can pop the plastic piece off of. Usually you can stick a key or somethin to press the button down and put the car into any gear. I donf know if that helps you for now. You might also wanna make sure you have your foot on the brake when your tryin to put in into gear. Some. Newer carz wont lt you shift out of park unless you are pressing the brake.

2002 Saturn Lseries trouble putting into gear at starup.

It has to be shift lock solenoid (actuator). When this solenoid goes out it makes it so you can't put the vehicle into gear. Replace this and your vehicle will go back to normal. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Thanks for using FixYa!

Gear locks when i park on even a slight incline

ALWAYS engage the Parking Brake BEFORE putting car into "Park". When you want to get out of "Park", put your foot on the brake pedal, move gear shifter into desired gear, THEN take down Parking Brake. If you get stuck (gear shifter doesn't move), then try the "rocking" method (recruit 1 or 2 folks to push your car from behind while you try to move gear shifter into desired gear). Good luck!

Car wont shift into any position

Hi, I know this may sound saft but are you keeping your foot on the brake whilst trying to engage gears?
If you are then maybe a inhibitor switch problem.
Please Don't press the unacceptable button on me as I'm only giving suggestions.
