Check the wiring in ur running light, somebody might have made mistake repairing it, CHECK also the grounding!

This is also caused by putting the wrong bulb into the socket IE installing an 1156 where an 1157 should be and visa versa. what happens is the bulb acts as a conduit for power to travel into the ground side of the circuit. symptoms of this phenomenon:
depress the brake pedal and the blinkers flash or come on. the dash light come on etc. make sure the proper bulbs are installed. one has even spaced nubs on the bulb the other has uneven spaced nubs.

Head lights and brake lights not working

check power wire which runs to the brakelight with a test light, get someone to apply the brake on and off and see if there is power getting back to that point, if no power check the switch on the brake pedal to see if power is getting to that point.
also check the earth on the bulbs because they wont work if there is no earth

The low beams and brake lights on my 91 Volvo 240 SW won't work

Check the wire connections, also check that bulbs are tight. you may need a new brake switch located on the back of the brake pedal for the (rear lights) As to it all happening at once I have no guess sounds like a loose connection or a wire shorting due to warn wire coating.

91 volvo rear running lights not working..

had the same prob..check the the trunk where the bulbs are in the light bezel there's these flat steel contacts where the bulb housing is making contact with - fiddle with those a bit and you'll find that they'll come on when you move em around a bit. They're made pretty badly.
