Question about Chevrolet 1500
The fuel pump is mounted inside the fuel tank on a unit that is fastened to the top of the tank.
Two options to access it..
Remove the fuel tank or the box off the truck.
Tricky to do either way.
Some fellow mechanics prefer the box off way but I still like to remove the tank.
Not an easy job as there are often rusted up fuel lines and bolts to deal with.
If you replace the pump also get a new strainer for the end of it. Often a hole in the strainer allows dirt into the pump and ruins them.
I hope your repair goes well. Thank you for using FixYa.
