Check to make sure your transmission fluid level is good. You can just replace the L/R solenoid. Low/Reverse

I get acode u110e. The car after sitting at a light it accelerates and lunges foward. The only way to stop it is to turn it off and restart it. There's no time to know when it will happen again.

It may be your ambient temperature sensor that is at fault and needs replacing.

However, before you start replacing parts in the hope of curing the problem .. get somebody to do a diagnostic check first.

Identify the problem first.

Transmission oil leaking. one mechanic said it needs a solinoid. How do you replace the solinoid? Is it difficult?

Your Caravan is most likely equipped with an A-604 transaxle. The solenoid pack is the the box with the black cover on the forward side of the transmission where the wiring harness connects. It is VERY common for the solenoid packs to leak on those transmissions. so I believe the mechanic probably told you correctly.

You DO NOT need to REPLACE the solenoid pack. you need to RESEAL the solemoid pack. It is not very difficult to do and the seal kits are available at the dealer. Most aftermarket parts suppliers do not carry seals for these, but you can check with your local supplier if you like. It only take about an hour to do the job professionally, so if anyone tries to charge you any more labor than that, they are ripping you off.

Also there are some lazy, or inexperienced, or just plain rip-off, mechanics that might try to tell you that you have to purchase a complete solenoid pack.

  • What has happened is your transmission solenoid pack has gone bad. Not to worry, this is an easy fix.

  1. You need to purchase a transmission solenoid pack and a gasket.
  2. You can take your chances with a salvage yard or you can get one off of e-bay for about half of what the dealer will charge you or you can go to the dealer.
  3. Pop your hood and look on the top of the transmission. That little black box is the transmission solenoid.
  4. Clean the area around the solenoid real well with a shop rag.
  5. Remove the connector hooked onto the solenoid.
  6. You may have a linkage to pop off.
  7. Now remove the long bolts holding it into the transmission.
  8. Now wiggle the solenoid out.
  9. Reverse to finish.
  • That's it. Real easy fix for this vehicle.

remove the speed sensor located just above the solenod pack. using a ten mm socket remove the plug from the pack then the three bolts holding it to the transmission. Install in reverse order and make sure you use a new gasket or it will leak
