There are several things that could cause this, and testing equipment to diagnose the problem is needed. It could be as simple as a dirty connection , faulty coolant temp sensor, relay or as complex as replacing the fan motor assembly. I suggest taking it to a shop for help , since you could throw a lot of monet at it and still have the problem.

2004 mazda mpv engine racing and cooling fan not working

coolant temp sensor tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is so it can regulate the idle and fuel mixture, when it fails there usually is no cooling fan and you will have trouble starting the engine and keeping it running.

Engine cooling fan only works when ac or defrost is on

if engine at long stand still, the engine temperature will rise about 190 degrees the cooling fan suppose to automaticaly turn on when coolant temperature sensor get hot it cause its resistance decrease causing pcm to send power to coolant fan relays and cooling fans, when you turn on AC the cooling fans suppose to turn on to cool down AC CONDENSOR, IF NOT AC WONT WORK COOLING FAN COOLS DOWN REFRIGERANT SO IT CAN RECYCLE THROUGH THE SYSTEM AGAIN.your cooling is suppose to turn on when engine at a sit still if vechicle not moving as coolant temperature rises at a set point the cooling fans will turn on cool down engine.cooling fans dont turn on when you first cold stsrt vechicle unless you have AC SWITCH ON.if cooling fans dont turn on when vechicle at a long stand still or moving along slow traffic.if coolant temperature sensor been replaced and fuses and relays okay have dealership check see if pcm driver circuit working faulty pcm will cause cooling fans not to turn on.

1996 Honda Odyessey engine cooling fans don't come on and engine on and engine temperature tends to go up. it will only come on when the AC is switched on. i do not need to run the AC all the time but i...

Check all fuses first. if the fuses are okay, disconnect the engine cooling fan connector and using jumper wires, connect the fan motor directly to the battery and ground. If the fan still doesn't work, replace it. If the fan does work, its relay may be faulty. Check in the engine compartment fuse box for the cooling fan relays. Try switching the cooling fan relays and see if the engine fan comes on and the a/c condensor fan stops working. If so, the engine cooling fan relay is faulty. If the engine fan still doesn't come on with a good relay, then check the engine temperature switch located at the passenger end of the front cylinder head. It is supposed to switch (have continuity) when the engine temperature reaches 205 deg F. You can remove the switch and put it in a pot of close to boiling water (212 deg F). If it doesn't have continuity at that temperature, it is defective.

Fix fans on a 406 estate 2 ltre turbo cooling system. engine is overheating and fans are not switching on to cool it down.

The 3 relays in the traingular box behind the grille suffer from bead connections. Try unplugging the engine temp sensor and see if the fans spin up. Let me know how it goes.

Engine light is on the cooling fan dont come on

it most likely is telling you your fan is not working and you are in danger of overheating. some systems need a full radiator to work so make sure the radiator is full make sure it is not warm when you check this let it cool down before removing cap. if fan still isn't working check fuses for fan. you may still have to take it in to check engine light some auto parts stores can check it for you and if the problem is fixed you still may need a scan to eliminate the code or shut off the light.

2 fans right behind radiator don.t rotate, what's wrong and how to fix ?

those fans can cost allot of money unless you get it used or off ebay or junkyard, I would first check the fuse and the cooling fan relay making sure its not faulty next also replace your temperature sensor, what it does it sense the temperature of your coolant in the engine and when it reach certain tempature it send information to the computer telling it to turn on the fan to cool down the engine down. its fairly cheap and it take 2 minute to replace; if the sensor is faulty the fan will not turn on automatically. next if you did everything and the fan still does not work You can pull the fan out and test it buy direct contact using some spare wire wires and touch it straight to the battery to the fans plug. it hard to believe both fans fail at the same time. keep in mind both fan work in sync, although the 2nd fan is only a back up help to cool the engine while AC is running.
