Would have to be the high pressure line from the pump. It may just be the short hose that connects the pump to the main fuel line. Take the access cover off and turn the key on briefly to see where it is leaking. A hose is easy to replace. Let me know if you get stuck.

I have a 2004 RX-8 with the same issue. The 2004 has a one piece fuel line from the pump to the engine compartment. 2 places it can leak is the outlet of the pump (replace pump) or the fuel line coupler at pump (replace fuel line). $300 total for job (fuel line $120/$180 labor)

The hose is on the side of the gas cap and it runs down to the bottom of the quarter panel. When I filled the gas tank up, gas comes out of this hose. We just had the fuel pump replaced. Its not leaking...

There are normally two hose lines from the fuel filler that run to the tank. The larger one carries the fuel from the nozzle to the tank. The smaller one is a vent hose that allows vapors to leave the top of the tank while filling. These vapors come back to the nozzle area and can be vented and/or collected by the nozzle depending upon air pollution standards in your area. If your second hose is running to the bottom of the quarter panel, it is probably the vent hose that may not have been reconnected at the top of the tank when the fuel pump was replaced. The fuel running down there is from kickback fuel at the time the pump shuts off. The real problem is that the vent line is open on top of the tank and when the tank is full, that can allow vapors and fuel to escape out of there and it could contact hot exhaust areas - a major fire or explosion hazard. Have this inspected and repaired IMMEDIATELY.

The seal at the fuel pump is not seated correctly, or the filler hose is leaking. take it back.

Fuel leaks out and tank is not full

Remove the back seat by just pulling up on the bottom cushion hard. then look at the service cover for the fuel tank. remove that and look and see if the seal is leaking for the fuel pump aND THE HOSES ARE RIGH THERE TOO SEE IF YOU SEE GAS LEAKING. IF NOT WITH THAT ALL APART DRIVE TO A GAS STATION AND FILL IT UP AND SEE IF YOU SEE WHERE THE LEAK IS FROM.

Removal and installation for fuel pump on a 2005 Mazda RX8

Remove the bottom of the rear seat. There should be an access panel to the fuel pump in this location. If not you will have to drop the fuel tank. Removal and installation is easy. Remove the fuel line(s) and wiring from the unit. Take a screwdriver and tap on the lip of the fuel pump, in effect turning it free of the fuel tank. Remove. Install the new pump exactly the way you took it out. Make sure the screen is attached to the pump.

Inside the cabin strong gas smell after fill up for approx 50 miles. 2003 Honda Odyssey 85k miles.

do you have the same fuel economy as before or does you gas last less miles than before. if you can smell gas whether the car is running or NOT that means you have a leak in your fuel system if it was not a leak, you would not smell it when not running . first thing is check under vehicle after overnight parking and see if there is fuel on the ground if there is , this will give you a starting point where to look for gas leak. Plugged, dirty or poorly connected fuel injector; Leaking fuel filter or fuel filter connections; Punctured or damaged fuel tank; Loose or poorly connected fuel pump; Gas in gas can in trunk.

No gas going to 2005 mazda 6i

the fuel pump is a complete asm. that you can get from mazda we sell them every day. the way you get to it is to remove the back seat lower seat. you remove it and you will see a panel that once you remove it the top of the gas tank and fuel pump are visible. you will need a special tool to unscrew the hold down but after that it is very easy to change.
