Check the coolant level in the coolant bottle. If low, add coolant. If it is O.K, then you must have a bad coolant level sensor. It is located inside the bottle and is not serviceable, so you need another Coolant Bottle, and it cost about $60 new. Before replacing, I would try to remove the coolant bottle, and give it a good cleaning with hot water. You can replace it with a new one, or try the luck in a junk yard.

And? why does low coolant light stay on when it has coolant? and where is the sensor?

There is not enough pressure in the system and the warning light goes on. By adding the necessary coolant the pressure will go up and the light will go out.

My coolant light stays on after car is started and stays on for approx 15 minutes then goes off and is ok as I drive each time. Sensor has been changed on my 1996 Buick regal 3.8 engine.

If the coolant is full. You can suspect the coolant level sensor is the culprit. Some are located on the passenger of the radiatir and a few others are located in the coolant tank reservoir. If its on the radiator it should be a black rectangular box probably on passenger side. Once you find this shut the car off then start it back up and tap the sensor with a screwdriver handle see if the light will turn off.If it does the sensor is sticking.

Low coolant light stays on and coolant level is not low

Many times vehicles have a coolant sensor mounted on the radiator that goes bad allowing the low coolant light to stay lit changing this sensor usually takes care of the light also make sure the wires running to the sensor are not shorted or broke.

Low coolant light stays on, coolant level is full

Check coolant level sensor, sit in the coolant resv. tank has two wire that go to it, tap on tank see if light goes off, if it don't replace sensor easy to do, part run's about $12.00 - $20.00, part # FLS609 at NAPA. Hope this was helpful.

Blue low engine coolant temperture indicator light is on

I also recently bought a 2002. According to the owner's manual the blue light does not indicate a problem unless it stays on after the car warms up. If you have an automatic it will not shift into fourth gear until the coolant warms up at which time the light should go off. Have only had the car for a week and notice the blue light goes off after a mile or two of driving in temperatures in the teens to 30's. I don't know how much outside temp affects it.

Engine light stays on a 97 olds achieva sl

Engine light stays on, low coolant light stays on , recently had a plastic housing replaced that was leaking, it was linked to thermostat, tranmission coolant, heater ect. Had the thermostat replaced also. Level of coolant is fine, does't overheat anymore, but now the starter wants to spin a couple of times and then it starts. The car has no rust, would like to hang on to it

Check your coolant level first then start having sensors checked. Could be a bad sensor or wiring issue.
