I have water damage on the headliner and flooring due to constant leaking from the sunroof and moonroof. I want them sealed and not to be used again. It has been fixed twice and I just don't want the windows. They have completely stopped working and water is leaking and flooding the whole back of my car and drips water on my kids in the back seat!

Well first off find the leak. the best way to do this is a smaoke test. with the roof closed. if you smoke light a cigarette and blow smoke around the edges. while someone is outside looking at the roof pinpoint the issue. most likely the rubber molding ( weather stripping) is bad. This is the case almost all the time. you can either contact subaru for this or the cheap easy fix. goto your local parts store and you can buy a weather molding sealent.

Why does my forester roof leak?

Once source of leaks is the rubber tube that runs from the roof line to the rear hatch, and contains the rego plate light, rear window heater and locking circuits. Look at the seals under the hatch hinges. If there's nothing obvious, pull some of the internal headers to see where the water is coming from. May still be the moon roof. Water will run down any available slope.

2005 Lincoln Aviator Moon Roof is stuck

Check the connections to the motor for the moon roof. It's most likely that the motor has gone out, and will need to be replaced.

I have my moonroof drain clogged backside how can I clear it?

You will have to access the drain assembly to try to blow the debris from the assembly with compressed air. This will require some disassembly to get to the moon-roof drain assembly. Most moon roof units can be accessed by removing the headliner.

My moonroof is leaking. water sips through the rubber seal and it is rusty around the channel inside. how do i remove the monroof?

All moonroofs leak. The key is, does the drain work? Find the drain hole(s) and force air or water through it/them or gently push a wire down the tube. I say gently because you don't want the hose to come unplugged from the drain spigot. If that happens you will need to pull down the headliner to reattach it. The drain hose will go across the roof, down one of the pilars, and out the bottom of the car. If you can find the exit point you can work from there as well.

Moon roof is not closing properly

you are having a problem with either your power switch which opens and closes the moonroof. or either you may in fact have a motor problem with moonroof. check to see if you may have an electrical short in your system. also you also may have something wrong with your moonroof sliding armature.

I have a 2004 Ford Sport Trac, and the moon roof is leaking. I just had it serviced and they blew all the drainage tubes out and it is still leaking. The headliner around the moon roof is slightly damp....

check the bottom of the glass to see if there is any dirt in the way also make sure they put sealend on the inside of the were the tube makes contact with the cars frame. also check to see if there is any little holes or tares around it

1995 bonneville water problems

I had a similar (and maddening) problem with my 1994 Bonneville SSEI. Try the following!

First, check the roof drains from the moon roof. The drains on the Bonneville from 1992 until 1999 are often and easily plugged. This simple check can be properly accomplished by first opening the moon roof, secondly finding the front drains (usually near the four corners of the moon roof) and third using low pressure compressed air to "gently" clear them. After clearing, you can check proper drainage by the drains by pouring a bottle or two of water directly into the drains and then looking beneath the car for the water that was drained.

Secondly, check the quality of the drain hoses from the moonroof. You can find them by carefully removing the plastic covers on each side of the the inside windshield pillars. Check out the hoses for proper connection and that they remain in good shape. The moon roof drain hoses can sometimes become disconnected or even disintegrate with age to the point that they leak.

Third, check the door seals and make sure that they are properly functioning. This can usually be accomplished by making sure the seals are not torn and ascertaining if the seals are properly secured to the door jams with adhesive. If not, reinforce the adhesive with additional adhesive.
