Question about 2001 Ford F150 Styleside SuperCrew

1 Answer

I have a 2001 Ford F150. It turns over but will not crank. Tried to jump it off but will not start. Gages and lights work inside. What does that sound like to you? Someone mentioned a fuel pump module. Where is that located on this truck? Thanks for your help, Anne

That may be the problem, you would have to do one thing to make sure and that spray starting fluid into the throtle and if it starts for a few seconds then i would say its the fuelpump module, a fuelpump module is a unit with the fuelpump and preasure sensor and sending unit as one i will show you a picture, this unit is located inside the gas tank the tank will need to be dropped in orderto install the pump module, in goes in on top of the tank after tank is removed,I have a 2001 Ford F150. are you sure you have the belt routed correctly. this can cause definate problems for the gauge sensors if the shafts are being turned the wrong way.

2001 Ford 4 door was runningg great turned off went inside an hour later tried to start and it wouldn't turn over, also can't shift automatic in neutral. Tried to jump start thought it was dead...

I'm thinking its the battery. Heat kills batteries. You said it wont jump start. That's a dead ringer for a bad battery. It may have enough juice to power some things, but wont run the starter, or the fuel pump, or the ignition(spark). Try a new battery and let me know!

Engine cranks but wont start

Usually if no rpm signal, the vehicle won't start. Engine cranking, did you check for spark at the spark plugs? The fuel pressure you listed may have been the initial prime. It sounds like no injector pulse. The rpm signal comes from crank sensor. If your missing rpm signal, may thought is the crank sensor.
Were there any applicable trouble codes?

I have a 2001 ford taurus that turns over but wont start, its firing and getting fuel, and the crank sensor is working

Check timing. Belt may have jumped. Aim a timing light at the crank. If the mark jumps around, the belt/chain, has slipped, and will need to be replaced.

I have a 2001 dodge 1500 I purchased used. It has 119,000 miles. It ran fine for three months and all of a sudden it died in town. After turning the key on and off a couple of times it started and got me...

Ken...great name...mine too..
Anyway... sounds like the ignition switch may be failing... If you're able to wiggle the key and get it to work intermittently, I'm pretty sure that's what it is..
