You may need to be looking at your Torque Converter being in LOCK UP and forcing it to stall because the Transmission is not letting go of the Motor...

You may also have a Plugged CAT CONVERTER

Test the Temp BEFORE and AFTER.. There should be an INCREASE of at least 100 degrees on the BACK from the Front

try a new fuel filter if you haven't replaced it already. you may have a weak injection pump; does it crank for a long time before it starts?

The mph gauge runs off your transmission! The lil gear in the trans might be wore out

check whether that which was clicking fast is the main relay. If it is call the expert - electrician for help.

I had a similar problem on my 2001 gmc savana. In the end it turned out to be a small hole into one of the hoses that creates vaccum in the engine. I'm no mechanic so don't quote me on that. Hose was replaced and the problem went away. Hope this helps.

Is the engine running on all four cylinders, no missfire? If so, check the engine and transmission mounts, there are four, one at the top right hand side, one at the top of transmission on the left hand side, and one on front of transmission bell housing, and one in the rear transmission bell housing, any of them that are bad can cause this vibration. There are no differences in the transmission. The only problem you might encounter is 1996 is OBDII where 1995 is OBDI.

sounds like a valve body or tork converter problem it should b hooked up to a scanner hope this helps
