Question about 2003 Jaguar X-Type

1 Answer

Hello all, help required please! The dipped headlamp bulbs keep blowing on my X Type Jaguar, 2.0 SE petrol 2003 model. I've been told that the wiring needs to be replaced to resolve. Ideally I would like to upgrade the bulbs as the performance of the standard bulbs is poor (when they're working at all that is). Any advice gratefully accepted. Thanks in advance....

This is not really a solution, but more like a thought.. If the wiring is bad.. you'd be more likely to be shorting out, blowing fuses.. Have you checked the voltage regulator? If it's spiking from time to time, could blow head lights, without necessarily blowing other things. Have you checked the headlight mounts. Vibration could cause them to go out offten. You did not say how often they blow ! Or if they go together or one at time. [One thing I noticed with high performance bulbs, they seem to last almost exactly one year. (Give or take a month )]

How to change a 2003 x-type jaguar head light bulb

Open your hood.Behind the head lamps you will see black plastic covers held with spring clamps. There is one on each side of the assembly (the outer clamps not visible). So reach in and undo the clamps to remove the covers. Disconnect the wire on the headlamp bulb and release the small spring clamps on each side of the bulb. It should come right out. Install the new H1 bulbs and make sure the dimple goes inside the little alignment hole in the housing for alingment. Slight twisting L & R will help you check this until you feel it insert) Install the small clamps. Install the connecting lead wire on the bulbs and install the covers. Make sure to place BOTH clamps on the covers. NOTE: the passenger side is really limited in room to remove the outer clamp. I recomend a long screwdriver to help release it. Re clamping the outer clamp will take some finesing to get a hold of it and bring it forward. I recomend looping a metal wire on the middle to help bring it out and pull it to clamp it.)

How do you change the headlamp in a 2004 jaguar x-type 3.0?

Open the bonet and look directly behind the headlamp and you should see a black plastic cover with 2 steel clips holding it onto the headlamp. Push the clips to the side and remove the cover. Do not remove completley as it will be difficult to refit. Just so you can get you hand to remove the connector. Remove and replace bulb
