Hi

Its the EGR valve, take it off and clean it with some carb cleaner this often works rather than buying a new one, a new one is about £150 from vauxhall, its very common but do have a go at cleaning it, I got another 2 years out of mine on a astra van. EGR is exhaust gas recycler, its kinda like a little turbo, it reburns any unburnt fuel when they go wrong you loose about 70% of the total power of the van and hates climbing hills.

I would bet without any doubt that this is the fault

if you need any advice on removing it let me know, its a simple task.
Regards
Dan

I have a 2005 KIA sedona. And when driving it sounds like it has a turbo. It also has no umph.instead it loses power going up hill. while the turbo sound it hesitate to shift gear.

Yours should be a 2.9 crd Turbo diesel if I'm correct & from what your describing sounds like you need to change out the diesel filter. These filters get clogged causing lack of power specially going up hill.
Is it blowing out black smoke? There could be other problems as well. Need more info like is the engine light on?

Going up hill lack of power and smoke pulled over then started to go again didnt do it again on level ground what it might be

It will lack lots of power going up hill, especially if its a really steep one and you keep it in drive. Make sure you downshift to second, or fist if its really steep.

Vauxhall combi van 04 starts and runs fine but a lot of white smoke

White Smoke --is coolant from a bad head gasket

Has to come apart, can't use it at all

Check to see if the coolant went down or if there is any left

My vauxall vectra when I accelerate smoke comes out the exost and there is no lift

what cc is the engine. what color is the smoke.... gray is water and normal. white over water in the exhaust usually means you been parking on a hill with the back of the the car facing the top of the hill. it water logs the cat in the exhaust. takes a long time to get the water out so you need a long run to do this. black smoke head problems could be the egr or the head gasket....
