My 1995 Jetta GTI, with 2.0 gas eng., is pulsing as I drive ( acting like its getting fuel then not.) The spark plugs and wires are good, what might be the most probable reason??

Havn't gotten around to changing out the component, but yes that does sound familiar. Thanks again, great service to the Jetta community.

The most probable is linked to the mass air flow sensor. This would cause surging on the highway and poor starting, high fuel consumption, smoking when starting...Any of this sound familiar? Replace the unit and keep on driving. This is the unit attatched to the airbox or near the air box in the duct work. Very easy to change. Let me know if you need anything.

I have a '91 oldsmobile corral 3.3L. Acts like it's getting to much gas. When it starts, runs fine. New fuel pressure regulator and oil pressure switch. Now won't start, any ideas?

When the problem is ongoing, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check for a fuel injector pulse.

It sounds like an ignition module, But first we have to check for fuel and spark when it dies. When it dies pull a plug wire, stick an old spark plug in and lay it on something metal so it has a good ground. Crank the engine and see if there is spark. If not, then it's an ignition problem.

fuel filter or a fuel pump could also be plugs, wires, cap and rotor I would try fuel filter first then take a plug off a cylinder and hold it close to screw driver or something(dont hold unless have rubber to grip to please dont get shocked) if it doesnt spark your not getting spark and try plugs wires cap and rotor if it does spark then open gas lid have someone turn ignition switch on and listen if you here the fuel pump is still good if not replace it. It does sound like a fuel pump

1993 Mazda MX-3 won't start

Check for spark at the sparkplug, to see if everything in the dist. is working right. And check the injector harness for something being pulled loose when the wires were jerked out.

94 chevrolet lumina idles good but when you are driving it acts like it wants to die like it isnt getting enough fuel when you come to a stop it wants to die too starts right back up

Hi! As a first course of action please do check the spark plugs. You may have fuel flooding and a faulty spark plugs can't burn the fuel. Have the spark plugs replaced and plug wires for better fuel burning. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

2003 mitsubishi outlander died at stop light. wont start. turns over and has a full tank of gas. is getting fuel to engine.

very poss it could be crank sensor ,broken wire ? timing belt? advise installing scan tool that reads live data check eng rpm on scan tool see if shows eng rpm while cranking , poss remove upper timing belt cover make sure is turning and not damaged, poss computer related problem or power to eng systems would have to check for power at fuel injs and check for ground pulse with logic probe or led test light if crank sensor ok also check for spark at plugs with special plug tester and check codes first

I have a 1995 maxima with hickup or hesitation

It sounds like a clogged catalytic converter. If you can unbolt it; try unbolted it and see how it runs. Also try unplugging the sparkplug wire one at a time and see if the shaking gets worse or stays the same. When you pull a spark plug wire and the car stops shaking then that cylinder isn't firing. Watch out though, you'll get a nasty shock if you do it without insulated pliers. It could be a stuck valve or bad ignition.

NO start

Make sure you are getting gas and spark, they are a few ground wires that come off of injector harness that if they are not grounded will cause injector NOT to pulse re-check wiring and get back to me. Good Luck
