1 Answer

You should have a drain plug and a fill plug
You fill it,until it runs out the fill plug

Find out the correct fluid to use, if it is Trans Fluid, try and find synthetic

It will be about 1 1/2 quarts,so get two.

Change the trans fluid every three years, not more than 30,000 miles or it will bite you,I used to own a trans shop
Don't forget to flush the power steering, and do the brake fluid every two years

How to change the transmission oil, and how many quarts to use, knowing that the SUV has what is called a sealed transmission.

Basically, these transmissions are filled using what's called a "double fill" technique. There are two drain plugs, one which actually drains the pan, and another that has an overflow collar inside that sets the level. You basically pump transmission fluid in with the engine off and the overflow plug out, until the fluid starts to flow out of the plug. Then start the engine and let it idle, pump in more fluid again until it starts to overflow again, and then replace the drain plug. This is supposed to be done with the ATF at approx. 40deg C, or basically just warm to the touch. You will likely need around 4 qts of fluid.

How many qts of trans fluid does a 1983 GMC pickup take?

if the torque convertor is drained then it will take about 13-15 litres of oil. if the convertor was not drained then it will take about 5-6 litres. run the engine after you added fluid putting the trans into reverse and drive then park and recheck fluid level and add until fluid level is at the full mark.

This is the way to wire the engine. The top is the firing order, and the other numbers are your plug locations.
1 is the first cylinder on the driver side toward the front. Odd's on the drivers side rolling back then evens on the passenger side front rolling back to the cab.

Code shows "NO BUS". And

Most often this error message and the stalling is caused by a faulty crank sensor on the Durango. It creates a short in the 5 wire harness. I would suggest replacing this before you go any further. It is mounted on the right side of the engine block, above the starter on the 4.7 litre engine.
Good luck, i hope this helps.

Bought a 1999 durango lady said it needs a tranfer case replaced was driving down road and transfer case broke and blew apart took to mechanic replaced transfer case but started vibrating after driving...

This type of vibration is typically caused by a bad universal joint on the drive line. I've seen a case where a bad u-joint caused the transfer case to crack and explode. Replace all the u-joints on the front and rear drive lines. They are usually only around 15 bucks each at NAPA and will be much cheaper than another T-case.

I have a 2.2 L 2004 Cavalier auto. I'm trying to find out how much transmission fluid to refill it with after a pan drop. I'm looking to buy only what I need.

About 3 1/2 litres is the average amount. Pour slowly 2 - 3 litres and check trans dipstick in Park with engine running..

I have a 2000 jeep wrangler, 4.0L 6 cyl. what would be the fluid capacities for the transmission and the transfer case?

If you have the automatic trans it takes 3.8 litres of fluid if doing a service with the filter. If you drain the torque converter (usually only on a tranny swap or new install) it takes 4.7 litres if it is the 30RH tranny and 6.4 litres if it is the 32RH tranny (call the dealer with your vin number to find out which one you have).

If you have a manual trans it takes 2.3 litres.

As for the transfer case there are 4 different transfer cases used that year.

NP242 takes 1.4 litres
NP247 and NP249 take 1.6 litres
NP213 takes 1 litre

Again you can call the dealer with your vin to see what transfer case you have if you don't know.

Change auto-tranny fluid

The best method is called 'Fluid Exchange" and is accomplised by a fluid transfer machine (very expensive). Call/go by your nearest Hyundai dealership. They can do it for you. If you want to do it yourself, you'll need the Hyundai specific fluid called 'SP III' (SP -w/3 I's) If you don't have this fluid exchange machine, best you have the technicians at the dealership do it. Here's the problem, you can't drain more than 3 quarts by draining the pan (Trans has approx 7 qt system). The majority of the fluid is in the torque converter (which does not drain)... that's why it's a fluid exchange process.
