SOURCE: loud humming noise from front end of Durango 4 x 4

You have a hub/wheel bearing going out. You need to jack up the vehicle on each side. Grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try to move it in/out at the top and bottom. If this does not work then roll the wheel as fast as you can and see if you can hear which one it is. Good Luck.

Loud Noise in Central Dash area, 2000, F-150,,Sounds like a fan hitting against a heavy plastic part.Starts around 45MPH.. I think its either air flow or speed causing it.

Have you checked to see if the heater motor is ok. Sometimes the newer ones have a bearing in the end by the plastic fan and the bearing will allow the fan to drop down and cause a loud noise when running. To check turn off the heater motor fan on the dash and see if the noise goes away.

Why is humming noise that gets loud and then go away coming from area of my air filter

Clean the throttle body and idle air control motor. This helps about half the times. The other half would be to replace them. Or live with it. They are still working.

Loud hum or whine coming from intake maifold

Check for cracks or air leaks. These can cause hum/whine/whistles. Spay soapy water solution on the manifold at joints. Avoid spraying anything electronic directly. If the noise suddenly stops, you have found the air leak.

Loud humming noise near small stainless cylinder and air filter

It sounds like the cylinder is part of the emission control system. It is probably a valve which is stuck inside. Remove it and clean it with wd-40. If this doesn't work, let me know.

Thank you allowing me to provide my assistance.

Is the noise that you hear a loud "humming" nosie? If so, I need you to remove the lower panel, under the glove box, (if it has one), and remove the 3 screws that hoilds the heater fan to the plastic box. After removing the fan, inspect the fan and inside the box for debris. Most likely, you will find some type of debris contained in the fan blades. This is very common, I drop 2-3 fan motors a week around this time of year. You may also find a rodent nest in the fan area.
