Sounds like a loose /dirty connection to to your batterys posts. Remove the connection clean the posts and connectors then re assemble. If it is still doing it charge the battery and also check the starte motor connections. good luck

Yes, it has to do with the ignition switch. but just as possible could be a battery connection from the battery to the switch. So, sometimes turning key to ON causes no dash lights or warning lights to come on?
That sounds like a bad switch, or more likely, a bad battery connection or a bad connection between the battery and the switch. First thing to do is check the charge of the battery, it must register at least 12 volts. 12.6 volts is the ideal for a good and fully charged battery. Clean and tighten all battery connections.

Sometimes when you have a poor connection, from looseness to corrosion, and you turn key and see all warning lights and gauges come on, and then turn key to start and everything goes black...that can happen because the power surge causes the bad connection to come apart. So check for loose or corroded connections.

Everything is dead

Hi eyansdaddy,
Sounds like a bad connection on the battery , check the earth cable on the battery and the one that earths the engine to the bodywork (at the bottom of the engine) if there worn or frayed it can stop the engine from starting. all the best Scott

The booster battery is attached to the dead batttery. Lights go on. When key is turned, hear 1-2 click only.

you may have to let the battery charge from the [boost] 15 minutes should do it. the click you hear is the starter trying to do it;s job.be patient. let car run thats attempting to boost for 15mins while the cables[booster] are attached. trying to start the car any sooner only delays the boost process. you may have to replace your battery in the mercedes to get it running, if it has a dead cell in the old battery.a boost will not always work, but worth the effort. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

My battery is dead and when i open the door i hear a clicking sound in the dash and noise coming out of seatbelt. i charged the battery then it goes dead in a hour and clicking noise comes back

the first thing to check is your battery cables to see if there is any corrosion on them. then i would have the alternator tested to see if it is bad, that will kill the battery as quick as just a few minutes. also have your battery tested to make sure there is not a bad cell in it.

Do you hear a clicking sound around the engine when it doesn't start? Have someone try the starter while you listen carefully under the hood for the source of the clicking. If it comes from the starter/solenoid area, you will need a voltmeter or test light to test for 12 volts at the battery side of the solenoid (light on or 12 volts always while attempting to start). If light goes out (12 volts goes to zero), then replace the positive battery cable that connects at the solenoid. Next test is at the solenoid other heavy terminal that connects directly to the starter motor. If the light never goes on (12 volts never appear) during start, the solenoid is bad and should be replaced. If light comes on (12 volts appears), then the starter motor is bad and should be replaced. (It likely has a dead spot in the commutator.)

The problem is a loose connection at your battery or the distribution block. This is normally the ground wire. Try tightening these connections and you should not have a problem. Or wiggle the wires.
