Question about 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan

1 Answer

This is real frustrating for us because were needing to sell it to cover some of my dads funeral expenses.1993 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3V6. This will be lengthy but I want to deliver all the correct info to you. When I start it all the warning lights come on , including ABS, then go off like normal. In the park position, while stepping on the brake pedal, it goes down as if nothings wrong the it slowly goes down another ¼ inch. It is still far from going down to the floor. The sound It makes is a grunting sound that can also slightly be felt on the brake pedal. The sound stops and light go off after about 2 seconds when the pedal no longer goes down. It sounds like its coming from the front driver side wheel area under the vehicle. The ABS and brake light both come on during this sound then turns off, again in appx 2 seconds. While driving it, the warning lights do not come on however, I still feel â?œlessâ? vibrating from the pedal and can slightly hear the sound. The brakes seem to work fine. The fluid level is ok. Hopefully this will give you a more accurate picture. On behalf of my entire family we thank you very much for your time.

Dan, Thanks for your quick response. I looked at the fuse box and there was'nt a fuse for ABS. Is there another location were the fuse could be? And thanks for rear disk advise but they are drums.

It is only one of 2 things the ABS pump has failed, or the ABS sensor is sending the wrong message to the ABS module, I have a little tip if you dont want to spend any money that is, you can remove the fuse from the ABS this will mean the car will no longer have anti locking brakes but it will still have normal brakes and it wont make a noise either, it is worth checking that there is no air in the system and also lastly if the vehicle has disc brakes on the rear when they get low the brakes pads that is, the front wheels over compensate and again would sometimes cause this noise so do have a look if they are disc brakes on the rear, although the sound is coming from the front, the cause could be the rear.

It is definately the ABS making the noise though

Hope that helsp

I have a 1993 dodge grand caravan that the lift gate won't release from the locking latch after it was banged into..

go inside to the lift gate and try to use a scewdriver to pry the latch loose while someone pushes the button or turns the key. it sounds like it's in a bind. you also may have to remove the cover panel from lift gate from the inside.
