you may have a broken wire around the boot hinge. or a faulty boot latch switch, also check the switch on the boot lid.itself.also the plastic boot closing panel has not come adrift, has the boot switch will not operate if the panel is missing/adrift.

if its a jatco 5 speed box they are unreliable rubbish .where are the metal flakes coming from?if out of the torque converter housing could be a drive plate problem or drive plate bolts adrift.

Jaguar s type when driving on snow grinding noise appears when traction control comes on

The grinding noise is the abs system,it works the traction control by braking the wheel that is slipping ,TURN IT OFF............ IN SNOW IT IS DANGEROUS TO USE "TCS"you want to get a wedge of snow under the wheels to help you STOP. I REPEAT ...TURN IT OFF,PLEASE.

It sounds like the tranny is over heating, you might want to have the tranny check by a pro. Way to complex to work on with out experience and training.

Sometimes will not start and digital dashboard stops working.

Just had this problem on one of my homies cars. We thought it was the fuel pump, but it wound up being the anti theft. Locking all the doors and unlocking it from the drivers side (As recommended in the owners manual. ) with the key didn't work. But it did work locking all the doors and unlocking it with the key from the passengers side. Started right up!
