to test the ecm ( its under passenger seat) just put a bit of metal like a safety pin in between the tiny squares on the test cable thats there not connected to anything, just look for a & b and stick 1 end in a and 1 in b and turn car to accesorys and dash will light up flashing the ecm picture fast a bout 5 times then will repeat a code, if it flashs once pauses then flashes twice this means 12 and that means everything electrical is ok, u can get all codes in workshop manual just download theres free ones out there

Rotor, dizzy cap could be a bad distributor as well, even check ur leads, firing order is 1-3-4-2 has to go anti clockwise from the top middle of dizzy and left to right on cylinders ( cylinder order 1-2-3-4)

Where is the coil pack located at on a 1987 Nissan Pulsar. Also spark plugs been changed car still not starting

The link will show you what it looks like. If you follow the leads back from the spark plugs, that will take you to the distributor 9a circular cap with 5 wires). In the centre of the distributer, there is a single lead, follow that one and it will take you to the ignition coil. 1987 Nissan Pulsar NX Ignition Coil Hitachi

Suzuki wagon r+gl check engine light keeps flashing and wont start after battery change

the engine (there are more than one engine)
has a distributor.
"have spark at coil down to dizzy but no spark at plugs"
this can mean only 2 things.
1: spark wires are dead. all 4, kinda hard to believe huh?
2: the dizzy is way off time. so time the dizzy and now spark
lands on each wire term.
if not a dizzy engine, post exact version of engine and country.

TWO DAYS AGO 94 RANGER (4 CYL) SOHC...STOPPED ON ROAD. CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START. HAS FUEL PRESSURE. CHANGED FUEL FILTER. CHANGED AIR FILTER. CHANGED ONE OF THE DISTRIBUTOR COILS...TWO SPARK WIRES WERE NOT...

If all the coils are giving spark now, then you moat likely have gas fouled plugs now,so change them out with new ones, all 8 of them.If you do not have spark on all plug wires, pull the timing belt cover, and align the cam shaft and the cam,to see if the belt has jumped. If It hasn`t,replace the crankshaft sensor.

Nissan pulsar wont start

Replace the sparks plugs, if the car is failing on one cylinder it will be hard to start.
Check the air intake and the air filter, if air filter is dirty replaced, only to test the car try starting with intake open and no air filter, if it starts it is an air intake problem.
Check the fuel filter and check that fuel have pressure, if fuel has no pressure it is either a faulty pump or an obstructed pipe.

Common cause for car not starting is distribution, with distribution rotor you often have to replace distributor cap or coil.
If it is electronic distribution you have to scan distribution module.

If you have an anti theft system, this can also cause the car not to start, usually you unlock anti theft with car key.

If it is none of the above, it can be a car computer problem, the car computer module (ECU) can be scanned using a code reader at any good garage, in this case the mechanic will get error codes from car ECU and be able to troubleshoot further the problem.
