Question about 1994 Chevrolet S-10

1 Answer

94 chevy suburban with 5.7. New dist cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, battery, and last year new ign coil, module, and ecm. I set the timing to 0 at tdc with timing advance unplugged and when I plug advance back in, it hardly will start and when it does it is very very rough to where it will not stay running.

Sounds like timing is a little late. try a SLIGHT advancement (1-2 degrees) of the timing. keep trying until idle smooths out, listen for pinging on a steep hill in top gear. if engine pings at all other than at full throttle, timing is too far advanced. hope this helps. good luck.

no mattter how much I advance the timing once I plug the bypass back in I get the same results. The only way it will idle half way smooth with the bypass plugged in is if I turn the dist about 30 deg counterclockwise (****** the timing almost)

Incorrect timing? Weak spark (coil)? Low fuel pressure (restricted filter, fuel pump)? Incorrect spark plugs ? Low compression? Worn out camshaft (insufficient lift)? Spark advance (ignition module)? ECM?

1999 jimmy 4.3 has compression, new fuel pump, filter, complete spider all new from dist cap and rotor ing md,wires plugs ,gapped rigth. timed right, new crank sensor cranks , no fire will not run

check make sure you have 5 volts at crank sensor with ignition sw. on. if voltage is not present then check power to your ecm. you need to back probe ecm pin the check power source at ecm. ALL DATA.COM is a good source you need to pay to get the data you need.

New plugs, new dist cap,new coil new ign. control module new fuel filter ,wont start

Fuel system checked? If OK, did you "reset" the ECC also called the ECM or PCM which is the computer of the vehicle? Do it by unhooking "both" battery cables, waiting 15 minutes, rehook then try to start and see if this helps. If not you may have to start on the ground floor by checking all fuses, crank and cam sensors, ICM, etc.

I have a 1999 chevy suburban 5.7 Vortech witch is starting to drive me nuts. The spark plug wires, and all around the ignition coil is arching. With this said the distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and...

Assuming none of the wires are crossed, AND you replaced the cap rotor wires with quality replacements (meaning AC Delco) then you may have a bad coil. Remove coil from dist cap if HEI and look for any signs of arcing such as blackened areas.

1/ Have you fitted the spark plug leads in the proper firing order.
2/ Look inside the top of distributor Top (this is not the first time a new distributer cap has very small crack) or the rotor arm is fitting the cap properly. Hope this helps Best Wishes, Malcolm Campbell.

1994 chevy suburban, no fuel coming from fuel

Put an injector noid light at the injector plug terminals to see if your getting a signal from the PCM(computer). If not try to find a computer from the same vehicle that works and swap it into yours to check.A PCM swap will take about 15minutes.

Engine turns over but won't start / 1995 F-150

Sounds alot like the ignition sensor. In my old Chevys it was under the dist cap, mounted on the dist itself. Mine was flat, slightly curved rectangle shape, with two flat prongs coming out both sides. If it would get an internal break in it, you cant see it. I would have the same problem as you, part was only about $12. And comes out with unscrewing two screws.
Might want to give it a shot.
