Question about 2002 Ford Taurus

2 Answers

I have a 2002 ford taurus. I need to flush the cooling system and install new antifreeze. I took it to Jiffy Lube yesterday and they checked for a drain plug and said they could not find one. I also checked closely and could not find one. How can I flush the cooling system and replace the antifreeze if there is not a drain plug? I wanted to do it at home as it is for my mother-in-law and she has a very low dollar fixed income. What do you suggest? Nick Worthington, Ohiio

There is a drain valve. The plastic shield under the front completely hides it and removing the air dam shroud will expose the valve. It should be located on the driverside once the shroud is removed.

Did you have red antifreeze prior to the flushing? Ford engines are generally aluminium and should be using blue antifreeze which is suitable for aluminium engine blocks! I think the antifreeze is reacting to the aluminium.....re flush and use blue!

I have no heat coming out in my 2002 ford taurus (3.0l) or maybe a little bit of warm air for 2 minutes if it's plus 5 outside then air turns cool at the windshield and at the feet. This past win

Check your heater hoses..If one is hot and the other is cool or luke warm,,then the heater core is clogged..I know its hard to get to ,,but if its clogged sometimes you can take the hoses off,,and run a garden hose through it and flush it out..

Hi Ron,

Blend air door actuators fail often in Ford Taurus. It sounds like that may be the problem with yours. For more information regarding this subject, please read the following article:

I flushed my antifreeze in my 2002 Ford Explorer and filled with regular antifreeze. It was still low so I added DEXCOOL antifreeze that I have for my Chevy...Since then, my windows are either not...

sometimes when you flush the system especially if you use a flush chemical and have a weak seam on the radiator, heater core, water pump, etc. any part of the cooling system it will cause a leak I have had it happen to me before, it sounds like the heater core is leaking which unfortunately is expensive to replace

Where can i get a power flush for my vehicle and

You can get this done at any auto repair shop or any quick service place such as a jiffy lube. Cost will be about $70. Be careful with a 99 Taurus, I used to have one, and they are notorious for their power steering problems!

How do you flush the cooling system in 2007 ford expedition eddie bauer edition 8 cyl

Due to hazmat regulations the best answer is to have it flushed at a quick lube shop they are the most qualified to handle the waste generated in this process.

If you are going to do it your self ensure motor is cool additionally that your never allow antifreeze to stand out alone it is very toxic.

Don't flush. Drain and refill only and take your old antifreeze to your local hazwaste center for disposal.

Hope this tip helps.

I want to change the antrfreeze in the raditor.

Not only the cap, but you have to find the drain. They are usually put in the most difficult places. After ten years consider having your system flushed, it'll be good for your radiator. Take the car to a jiffy-lube type place and they will change your oil for you too. The Taurus is a good car, treat it right and it will give you good service.

Anitfreeze leaking from passenger side north west corner of motor

keep antifreeze level up till you find the leak to prevent problems worsening. More than likely slow heat is caused by low level. Most popular leak is waterpump--also can be any of its many hoses. Probably not anything they did. have someone test it. some times looking with a good bright flashlight will track it without any need for pressure testing. Hope I helped. Thanks
