Question about 2005 Pontiac Grand Am

1 Answer

2005 GRAND AM v6 My car at times will not start. I changed the fuel filter without fixing the problem. That day I got in the car and listened for the fuel pump to sound at the turning of the ignition key. I noticed that about every tenth time the fuel pump would not sound and subsequently the car would not start. It will start when I hear the fuel pump. Will a relay do this or should I go directly to changing the fuel pump. The fuel pump has 50,000 miles on it. Thank You. Tim

When you are testing and it gets to the no start would check the pigatil at the pump for power. This way you can either condemn the fuel pump or see if it is an electrical issue of losing power intermittently. Another thing you can try is swapping a similar relay just to see if the relay may cure the issue.Just pay attention to which relays you swap out. If neccessary should be able to get a wiring diagram for you.Let me know will be glad to assist further in needed.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 95 grand prix v6 gtp 24 valve

the fuel filter on a 1995 Pontiac Grand am SE is located towards the back of the car, just behind the fuel tank. look just under the rear axle there is a flag on it that says flammable fuel. Good-Day!

My engine keeps sputtering. I have a 2005 pontiac grand am 3.4 liter V6. I've replaced the spark plugs due to a misfire, I've replaced the cranshaft sensor, I checked the timing on the timing

fuel pump could be going bad check fuel pressure that will make it sputter,if that not the case check fuel filter.

I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3100 V6 thats been sitting for almost 2 years without being started, I changed the battery and spark plugs and tried to start it, it turns over but will not start. It...

Odds are the fuel is stale. Gas turns if it is sat for a lengthy period of time. I would suggest :Drain the fuel tank, Take a 5 gallon can of gas. STP makes a product called (Ithink the makes is )Stihl.
It is a bottle you can see a red liquid in. It has a small measuring cup built into the top of the bottle.
Add the recommended amount to the 5 gallons of gas. Replace the fuel filter and if the plugs have not fouled, it should light right off. I'd suggest changing the oil and filter as well.
Good luck

2000 pontiac grand am gt turns over won't start

without acually seeing the car its hard to say but it sounds like the fuel pump is weak gm cars and trucks are touchy about fuel pressure if your off from the spec by as little as 1 or 2 pounds it wont start. it may start off the starting fluid and run but not start on its own. also try taking off the fuel filter and blowing through it and see if its plugged up this is a common cause of fuel pump failure.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalling and not starting

Since you've replaced many of the usual suspects (fuel pump etc.) you might want to look into testing or simply replacing the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor. If you intermittently lose one the these signals it would cause the problem you describe.
