The heater box actuator door is a flap that allows air to travel through the heater core. you may be able to get at it from the underside of the dash on the passenger side. you may be able to manually move the door from there. good luck. hope this helps.

2010 Doge Nitro blows air towards windsheild not matter witch position the selector is in. Took it to the dealer and they said the Heater Housing and Control Head needed to be replaced. Suggestions

This seems to be a problem with the actuator for the mode door in the heater housing. It shouldn't require replacement of the heater housing, but may require a lot of work to get to the heater housing (possibly removal) to replace the actuator. If you want air to be directed to the floor or the dash vents, you will have to have the actuator repaired/replaced.

Then you need to go to someone that can

I have a 1999 cadillac catera the heater is not heating but the fans work also the air works great

there is a actuator that opens the vent door at the heater core box that is bad, when its closed it allows cold air 2 pass when its open it allows hot air 2 pass. Its behind the radio next 2 the glove box . The actuator is very hard 2 replace but you can access it from the passenger side floor area with some work and disconnect it so you can tie the door open , otherwise your gonna need 2 take out the dash. I would recommend taking it 2 the dealer but that wont be cheap

The rear ac is blowing warm air, but the front is just fine. when i switch the blower mode in the back from the ceiling to the floor there's a knocking sound coming from the back. sounds like something...

This sounds like the blend door which controls the temp is bad, this may be due to a bad actuator motor or the door is broken, the most common reason is the small actuator motor that moves the door is bad, let me try and enclose some pictures to help explain this.theres a heater box in the rear like the front but smaller it has ac core and a heatercore, theres a door in the middle, this door opens and closes allowing hot or cold air or both depending on the temp setting, the door is controlled by the actuator motor throught the hinge on the bottom of the door, sometimes due to the plastic design the knob on the hinge breaks and the door bangs as it tries to move and also will do the same banging when the motor is bad,

heres a picture of the actuator and also a picture diagram of the heater box. this is not hard to do, the rear seats will need to be removed to gain access to right rear panel, remove the panel and you will have full aceess to box, i have circled the actuator in the diagram to help you find it, sometimes if you remove the panel from the back door and the top there is enough room to replace the actuator but if its the door you will need to remove all. hope this is helpful.johnjohn2_144.jpgjohnjohn2_12.png

Heater core is hot but will not blow warm air only blows cool air. Is there a vent closed that should be open? If so where is its location?

yes, the blend door is right at the heater core. It has a shaft that is turned by the actuator, shown below. It is typical for the actuator to fail. Find the actuator on your heater box, take it off and make sure the door is not jammed. I don't have instructions for your model on how to get at the actuator. Some are easy and some require removal of the dash. Plug the actuator back in while it's still off the box and see its axle turns when you change the temperature setting. If not, replace the actuator. Cost is $39 at autozone. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

This is a huge job I don't recommend it unless you have a whole day and experiance or 3 to 4 days with none and lots of patience. The dash needs to come out to replace that blend door and actuator. I would caution agianst attempting without experience.

I hade the same problem it is your blend door or blend door actuator which are easy fixes and can be accessed by taking out your glove box.
