Question about 1996 Toyota T100

1 Answer

Ok this is realy getting to the piont of know return. My 1996 T100 toyota 2.7 engine does not start HOT, let cool down for about 45mins. it will sart fine and runs good. The engine light is on code readding is lb running lean. If the engine is hot the only way she will start is if I spray gum oil in the intake, close it quickley so she can stay running? My tech can't figure out the problem either, some one out there must have come across this type of problem!

may be a vacuum hose is rotted out that leads to a device only activated over that limit; or a vacuum device that just fails to maintain good vacuum when it hits that level of demand.

1997 Toyota Truck 4 Runner 4WD 3.4L EFI DOHC 6cyl, blown head gasket?

Could be a blown head gasket. You might also need to "burp" the system. When the vehicle is completely cooled down, try taking the radiator cap off, topping off fluid, and start the engine. That should help get air out. If it starts bubbling and shooting coolant out, something is wrong. You could also try running without the thermostat or just go ahead and replace it. They aren't usually expensive.

check/test cam and crank sensors. If defective, this will cause a misfire on the spark or the fuel side. If ok, check all electrical wiring for corrosion or if rodents bit any of them.
