From description you have given it could be either injectors operating as they get up in mileage they can get noisey or valve tip clearances, which could be be caused through wear or slight drop in idle RPM oil pressure
That doesnt sound good. Check the engine oil level and top up as necessary. If the noise is still there, then you should take it to a mechanic to check. It could mean that you need to either replace the engine or overhaul it. Hope that helps
Hi, Try taking the wires coming from your distributor. and twist them around each other.that way they act like a homemade shielded cable. Like you said two wires running right beside each other act like a little antenna that’s what I had to do to a wheel speed sensor on a car when i worked at GM. I hope I said that to wear you can understand it Let us know if that fixed your Car, Thanks Shiv.
The wiring is different, if your Golf had headlights with H4 bulbs then changing to high beam turns dip off. The GTi has separate dip and high lights, on high beam dip stays on (all 4 bulbs on).
You can be sure you have engine damage now. There is not just one thing to check. It needs to go to the shop ASAP before you drive it anymore.
Possible damages
Cam bearings Main bearings Rod bearings Cracked rod and main caps Bent rods Damaged Piston and wrist pins Damaged cam Broke springs Bent valves Damged crank The list can go on. So that is be best advice to give.
judging by the amount of km it has done i would say the rpm drive is faulty, this measures the amount of rotation in the camshaft and shows the "revolutions per minute". when this goes faulty it stops the read out on the dial, so you want to be looking for a device that measures the speed that the engine is turning, if you have, replace it and it should solve the problem
