My car is cutting off and surging at stop lights. It is also acting like it has no "go power". I took it to an auto mechanic and he told me that i need to replace all four of my O2 sensors, however only 2 of them are showing up on the scanner as being bad. Does this sound like a problem that requires all 4 sensors to be replaced...or does it even sound like it is my sensors causing the problems?

Take it to a Nissan dealer and have them check your A/F Aplha readings. Should be around 100% +/- 5%. Sound like you need a Air Flow Meter and your ECM/computer to be reprogrammed. Air flow meter costs around $120 and reprogram another 1.0 hrs. or so. Sound like your car is running lean, causing NO POWER condition. Also wash out the air box and install new air filter.

I have a 2000 nissan maxima gle 3.0 do i have to take out the engine to cjange the timong tensioner it has a rattling sound

Larry, normally engines do not have to be taken out to change timing tensioners, the bumper assy., A/C condenser, radiator, etc is removed to get access. Best if you get yourself a manual.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima GLE, I Failed the Emission Inspection (DTC) Diagnostic Trouble Codes of "P1492","P1105" What these Codes exactly? mean

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Faulty spark plugs or wires
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector(s)
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
  • Faulty camshaft position sensor
  • Defective compute
  • P1105MAP/BARO Pressure Switch Solenoid Valve
  • Check and clean the MAP sensor, or replace.
  • P1492EVAP Canister Purge Control/Solenoid Valve (Circuit)
  • Replacing the purge solenoid will clear code P1492 This should also clear code P0300 as well.

2001 nissan maxima gle it bogs down when i press on the gas, idles low at .5 rpm, dies when i start it i have to keep my foot on the gas, lights run dim when i come to a full stop it has 155,000 miles

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you replace the MAF (mass air flow) sensor and the TPS (throttle position sensor). If the MAF and TPS is faulty the RPM tends to go down or goes erratic. The MAF and TPS is located at the throttle body which is secured by small screws or bolts. It is visible which can easily be seen.

Once replaced you'll be good. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Will a bad knock sensor cause a misfire. car is missing change the plugs no help codes are misfire and knock senser sometimes a #2 o2 sensor. 1999 maxima thanks for your help.

A Bad Knock Sensor will not cause a misfire, unless the advance is off due to a faulty Knock Sensor. The O2 Sensor will cause a random misfire.

Good luck on this repair.

Primary ignition fault. Reasons: Bad distributor cap (most likely) or ignition control module/ignition coil.
Hope that helps
