Question about 1994 Lincoln Town Car

I have a 94 town car and i did a couple test. The first one was a Koeo and it's showing DTC:539, 332 and 634. The second one was Koer and its showing DTC:332, 536 and 632.

the actuator that opens the flip door is broken. the electronic climate control unit operates a vacuum operated mechanism to open and close the door. a piece of plastic breaks off.

The first problem you have is assuming that the ignition coil is the only thing that can cause a misfire.

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0316 is a "continuous memory only" code that indicates that there is a fault causing a misfire during the first 1000 revolutions of the crankshaft immediately after engine start-up. This should be accompanied by the regular cylinder misfire monitors (Codes P0301 through P0310) unless the misfire does not continue long enough for the regular misfire monitors to determine which cylinder is misfiring.

In order to determine what is actually causing the problem, you must have access to a scan tool that can perform Key On Engine Off (KOEO) fault testing and Key On Engine Running (KOER) fault testing as well as interfacing with the onboard engine computer to read live data and perform system tests.

Please note that generic OBD code readers DO NOT have the capabilities to do what you need to diagnose this problem. You will most likely get additional DTCs that can help lead you to find the source of the problem when KOEO and KOER tests are run. Generic OBD code readers can access only continuous memory DTCs.

Possibilities/conditions/systems that can cause this code are:
>Camshaft Position Sensor
>Low fuel: less than 1/8 tank
>Stuck open EGR Valve
>Blocked EGR passages
>Ignition system
>Fuel Injectors
>Fuel injector control circuits
>Running out of fuel
>EVAP canister purge valve
>Fuel Pressure
>Evaporative emissions system
>Base engine (mechanical) problems

You have no mentioned any testing being done, the engine control module needs to be tested for fault codes, this should be a passive test (KOEO) and an engine running test (KOER). This is called a OBD2 fault code test KOEO test and KOER test.

I have a 1991 F-150. Runs great but wants to shutoof at stop signs and when you out it in gear sometimes. Any suggestions on the problem? Maybe the TPS?


the first check you should do to solve this issue is a KOER and KOEO. More commonly known as "pulling codes". I have linked the instructions on how to "pull codes". In a nut-shell you need to use a length of wire or paperclip to "ground" a pin on your self test connector (under the hood, driver side). Then, you get in the truck and turn on the key and count the blinks of the check engine light (CEL). This is called a KOEO (key on, engine off) test. For the KOER (key on, engine running) you will need to warm the vehicle to operating temperature then go through series of "press the brake, turn the wheel, press the OD switch etc..." and it will test all of your sensors. Then, it will blink some codes at you once this process is complete. It might be annoying at first, until you get the steps memorized. However, once you've figured out how it works--it'll be a life-saver. Don't replace a component without out doing a KOEO or KOER, first; or your just wasting money. Hope this helps

91 ford f-150 5.0 l has irregular idle and around 1500 rpm when driving it it start to lose power like its choking and drops to about 1000 rpms

If you have no codes, then I would start by replacing plugs, wires, distributor cap and coil.

Change distr.cap rot. and plugs and wires still has slight miss but not all the time...

This is a case of which came first.
The stalling is most likely caused by your Cam Sensor. The description for Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0340 is "cam sensor circuit malfunction" This is a VERY COMMON problem on 7.3L diesel engines. Ford has had a lot of trouble with these.

The description for DTC P0470 is "exhaust back-pressure sensor circuit malfunction" This code can be caused by the EBP sensor, the circuits to the EBP sensor or a faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

The description of DTC P1211 is "Injection Control Pressure (ICP) above or below desired" This can be caused by the engine stalling. It can also be caused by several other things, including low engine oil level or a possible faulty PCM. (Check you engine oil level FIRST.)

The troubleshooting charts needed to properly diagnose DTCs P0470 and P1211 depend on whether these codes are Key-On-Engine-Off (KOEO), Key-On-Engine-Running (KOER), or "continuous memory" codes. If you retrieved these codes with a generic OBD scan tool, then they are definately present in "continuous memory". However, a scan tool with the capabilities to read KOEO and KOER codes MUST be used to determine if these are "HARD" or "INTERMIITTENT" faults. The troubleshooting steps vary greatly depending on this information.

Personally, I would start with the lowest number code first (P0340). Replace the cam sensor. Please note: this is the MOST LIKELY cause of the problem, but not the only POSSIBLE cause. Then clear all the fault codes and drive the truck to see if this or the other codes return.

1st thing to do is run the KOEO test, then run the KOER test and see what shows up.
