Question about 2003 Nissan Altima

2 Answers

I purchased a 2004 Nissan Altima in May of this year. Just found out that floorboards are rusting through to interior, upon brake replacement. Dealer in KY sold car "as is" Is there any help out there for me to get this repaired? I have not contacted the dealer I purchased this car from. I live in KY and car came from OH. I had to have a state inspection at my expense. I purchased carfax report before buying but did not have car inspected by a mechanic. Is there any hope that I can possibly get dealer to get repairs done at his expense? Closer exam also revealed undercoating had been recently applied

There is a chance this vehicle has either had water damage or it is a manufacturing defect. I think rust-through the sheet metal of floorboards is actually considered a safety hazard that probably isn't legally allowed to be on the road. That being said if such water damage was not disclosed on the carfax report then the dealer should be obligated to repair it.

Rusty floorboards is a common occurrence with 3rd generation Nissan Altimas (02-06) if they are located in areas that use salt on the roads. When I first heard about it, I used rustproofing under the carpet of the front footwells as well as from under my car. It was showing signs of starting to rust, but because I reapply annually, the problem has not gotten any worse. I doubt the warranty will cover the repair, so the dealer would only cover the repair as a woodwill gesture.

Name of a part for nissan altima that appears to be a cross member in the back of the car attached to the drive train

a nissan dealer parts guy will show you an illustrated parts breakdown for free, or you could buy one on eBay for about 5 bucks. then you will know the name, the part number, the minutes of labor required to replace it, the dealer cost for the part, and most likely the other models and years the part can be found on, as you are going to be looking in junkyards for the part.

WHERE IS THE FUEL FILTER ON A 2004 NISSAN ALTIMA

The fuel filter and regulator are located inside the fuel tank. They do not require any maintance. If the fuel pump fails, it will come as a unit including the fuel pump, regulator and fuel filter. One less service item you have to purchase.
