2000 cadillac seville sls 4.6L...heater core hoses were cut off of the car....need to replace them but dont know which is the inlet and outlet...what do they attach too....need a diagram

    there are no hoses on the car to remove....they were cut off....I need to replace them....dont know which is the inlet and outlet...and what do they attach too..

There are 2 heater core hoses and it doesn't matter which way they are hooked up since they go through the coil one way or the other.

Hi. Here's the standard procedure on how to replace the heater hose.

  1. Place a drain pan or bucket under the radiator and drain the system by opening the petcock fitting near the bottom. If the old engine coolant is not going to be used, dispose of it immediately because it is extremely poisonous.
  2. Remove the hose clamps from your old hose with a pliers or screwdriver, depending on the type of clamp used, and twist and pull the hose to loosen it from the fitting.
  3. Remove the hose and carefully scrape the fittings clean, then apply a small amount of gasket sealer to the fittings to assure a tight seal with your new hose. Apply sealer to the fitting only; this will help avoid any excess from possibly clogging the hose or a water channel in the block.
  4. Slide the clamps onto your new hose and install them, making sure that the hose ends slide over the fittings far enough to position the clamps properly.c
  5. Tighten all the clamps, fill the radiator with coolant, and start the engine to check for cooling system leaks. Re-check the fluid level after the engine has reached normal operating temperature.
Tips:
  1. When replacing your heater hoses it's a good idea to measure your old ones first - both the length you'll need, and the inside diameter. Heater hose comes in 1/2", 5/8", or 3/4" diameters, with two different sizes often being used on some cars.
  2. Replace your old hose clamps as they tend to become corroded and weak with age.
  3. Do not twist or pull the heaters hose off the heater core. There is a good chance the tubes will break requiring the heater core be replaced. Use a sharp knife or razor blade to **** the hose from the end to past the end of the tube and gently work the hose loose and remove it.
  4. I recommend using Permatex #2 as the hose sealant.
  5. CAUTION! Do not replace the hoses on a hot engine. Make sure the engine is cold before attempting this job. Failure to do so can result in serious burns or other serious injuries.

  • Non-hardening Gasket Sealer
  • Antifreeze

Not unless you want to cut a hole in the metal.
There is no access panel from the factory that I know of.

If check engine light is on have it scanned at auto parts store .if no codes then could be low fuel pressure or a coil pack shutting down. Please rate my help

Heater blows out cold air


If coolant is low, the heater will blow cool.. if coolant is low..if cant see a leak..need to have radiator pressure tested..or top off coolant and keep a close check and see how much your losing,that is what I would check first, if not low then I would check heater core as suggested

It is bolted to the throttle valve (where air hose from air cleaner connects to the engine) of the intake manifold, it is pictured below with yellow circle around it.

FIRST TURN OFF RADIO.REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. REMOVE ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT.REMOVE THE COOLING FANS.REMOVE ALTERNATOR COOLER OUTLET HOSE.REMOVE ALTERNATOR COOLER INLET HOSE.REMOVE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.REMOVE ALTERNATOR MOUNTING BOLTS.REMOVE ALTERNATOR.PUT EVERYTHING BACK VISA VERSA TORQUE ALTERNATOR BOLTS 37 FT LBS.TORQUE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS + BATTERY CONNECTION 115 INCH POUND,ALTERNATOR COOLER HOSE TORQUE 80 INCH POUNDS.

HOW DO U GO ABOUT PUTTING IN A HEATER CORE. NEED


1. drain coolant
2.remove instrument panel
3. for 5.4 (4v) if equiped,remove junction splash shield
4.for 5.4 (4v) if equiped, disconnect starter relay cable9ad8eea.gif
  1. For 5.4L (4V), if quipped, remove junction block bracket.
  2. Clamp inlet and outlet heater hoses.
  3. Disconnect heater hose from heater core by gently pressing it toward heater core.
  4. Remove A/C plenum demister adapter.
  5. Disconnect vacuum line.
  6. Remove 13 plenum chamber top screws.
  7. Remove blend door assembly from case.
  8. Remove heater core.
To Install:
NOTE: If needed, clean and lubricate coolant hoses with plain water.

  1. Install heater core.
  2. Install blend door assembly to case.
  3. Install 13 plenum chamber top screws.
  4. Connect vacuum line.
  5. Install A/C plenum demister adapter.
  6. Connect heater hose to heater core.
  7. Release all clamps from inlet and outlet heater hoses.
  8. For 5.4L (4V), if quipped, install junction block bracket.
  9. For 5.4L (4V), if quipped, connect starter relay cable.
  10. For 5.4L (4V), if quipped, install junction splash shield.
  11. Install instrument panel.
  12. Refill engine coolant.

Where is the coolant coming from? It could just be a bad hose, or radiator, or heater core, of even water pump. need more info.
