Check engine light and AT light turned on what do i do? whats a typical repair cost

The check engine light comes on when there is a failure. If the failure is not fixed before clearing the codes than the computer turns the light back on because there is still a failure! In order for the light to stay off what ever is not working needs to be repaired. Then the codes can be cleared and the light will stay off. What code specifically do you have. It should be a P followed by four digits (P0128).

chances are when you fix the check engine light the smell will go away too. the fuel delivery to the engine cylinders is not correct causing the vehicle to run too rich or too lean. you need to find out what code{s} have turned on the check engine light. If you continue to drive you could increase the cost of the repair so get it checked quick.

i would not say it is a fuel issue because the fuel pump is not going to stop the car from cranking over it will still turn just not fire might be worth while to have the battery tested or the alternator if a car gets low on juice it will shut down and not have enough power to turn over

Um, that depends on which pistons. If you mean engine pistons, typically repair is cost prohibitive. On the other hand, brake pistons can be serviced.....

waiting a day or so won't be a problem..it just to be what you're willing to put up with...and for cost? it should only be one hour labour to get it diagnosed...at least that much..if you choose to do the repair, then you're looking parts plus labour..depending on what it is...it sure sounds like it it fuel related....like pump...if pump is diagnosed faulty, then please change the strainer with it (if it has one) and for sure the filter at the same time..always.

try checking your throttle boddy connection just blow on it a bit. =] I dont know what will happen if there's something wrong with the sensor.
