I would try changing the filter, I've seen some that should be changed every 20,000 miles. You might want to check for any DTC codes stored for the transmission. Auto Zone will do it for free. If there is a code that might point you in the right direction.
No, you do not need another new filter. The GM dealer that "flushed" your transmission should have replaced the filter at that time, and your transmission should still be clean inside. You might prolong a rebuild or help the shifts by replacing the fluid with a Lucas brand fluid. You can change / drain and refill your fluid yourself or have a friend do it much cheaper than a dealer or a local shop. Who, once you say "slipping" will try to sell you on a rebuild and will pressure as much as they can to make the sell. Transmissions scare folks and shops play (or prey) on that to "create work" . Put no undue strain on your trans. drive as careful as you can, let of the gas as it needs to shift so you are not pushing the shift but let it happen. Make each trip count and consolidate your trips so as to keep the transmission cool as you can, heat shortens a transmissions life. This is all the advise I can give. Hope this helps.
Look here at the Lucas brand of transmission oils. >http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display...

Hello. If you have an AAMCO transmission shop in the area, go there for a free estimate and a free scan of your car's computer. You may learn that the cost of repair is within your budget. For instance, you may just need to have the transmission bands tightened up. Joe

I will change the filter, but I also would like to know a chemical I can put in to make it shift harder.
Is there a good chemical to put in my transmission to help it shift better
Thanks Joe. AAMCO and others that scan your computer, does it tell them about the transmission. Does it say tighten bands, sticky valves, or bad torque limiter. Just exactly what can you learn from a scan? Is the one that Advanced Auto tell you anything that I need to know
Thanks again
John
