Question about 2008 Nissan Versa

Open Question

I have a brand new Versa 1.8 L engine with CVT transmission. At 3289 km I started to notice a whistling and clunk clunk sound. I have a whistling sound coming from the CVT. Dealer service and president say that this is normal for the CVT transmission. I also have a clunk clunk sound coming from the underside of the vehicle immediately after the automatic doors lock. There is some vibration attached to this, and while it is happening, you feel like the whole engine is going to fall off. Gas mileage is bad, - 400 km /43 L of gas. The dealer including the president of the dealership are treating me badly, saying there is nothing wrong withn the car. It will not be a Nissan for me again!!!

Yes, the defect is clearly in the valve: as the error says it's non responsive and stuck partially open. It's not a big problem, the engine will just run a little rough and use more fuel.
To fix that just replace the valve and check all the pipes.

Toyota Fielder

Toyota Fielder is equipped with (Continuous Velocity Transmission) CVT. Better to replace the CVT oil every 100,000 Km. The recommended oil is Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC with part number 08886-02105 4 Litres. Requires inspection after every subsequent 40,000 Km under normal conditions and 25000 Km under severe conditions.

I use to work at a Nissan dealership. It sounds like your are having problems with the torque converter. When the CVT gets replaced, the torque converter does too. They may have gotten a bad part and need to do a parts warrenty on it. Another thing is that they may need to reprogram the TCM. This is another step that should be done after replacing the CVT. If they will not do anything, I would try to find another Nissan dealership and have them look at it.

I have a Nissan versa 2009 and it has a cvt transmission what. If any is the difference and is it a better transmission than the older regular transmissions?

CVT stands for constant velosity trans.which means it just keeps going.if you listen when you take off you wont hear it shift 3 or 4 times it keeps going.Better?time will tell and many different opinions.

Ideas or causes for a loud clunk / hard shift when going from Reverse to Drive?

Check to see if you have a broken transmission or engine mount. This should have been caught while doing the trans, but would have easily been missed if it was an engine mount. You might also look at all of the CV joints.

Vehicle Speed Sensor

Cvt transmission is continuously variable transmission. VSS is vehicle speed sensor. A faulty sensor can make the transmission run erratic.
