Question about 1991 Cadillac DeVille
Yes...i seriously doubt that you got two defective units in a row. Without actually seeing it, I'm going to have to guess that you have a problem with the air supply. If you have the struts attached to the vehicles air pump, perhaps you should consider using a separate line kit that uses an external air supply. The lines do not only serve as a supply but also share pressure between both struts, helping to balance them out.. Only other way to prove that out would be to swap the struts and see if the problem follows them (I doubt it). You did check the suspension free travel with the struts disconnected and make sure nothing is binding, correct? (don't see how it would be but when there is a problem nothing should be ignored)
By the way...if you aren't going to use the vehicles air pump anymore they make excellent emergency tire pumps if you attach a hose and tire valve fitting to them and a long extension wire with clips to attach it to the battery (they draw enough to melt most cigarette lighter plugs)

Normally,the front has struts and the rear has shocks.The struts are to help reduce the bouncing around because of the added weight of the engine and are much stronger.You need to make sure that putting struts in the rear is the proper part.Call a Cadillac dealer,or even a shop to find out.I really think that is what's going on.Also,when you call regular shops,I always recommend a AAA approved shop because they have to maintain training and are the most honest because of AAA regulations.They are also cheaper than the dealer.That is for things that you do not do yourself or need help with I mean.Don't say yes or no though yet because I would like to see what happens.When you finalize the solution,it appears that it cuts off our communication link.Good luck,Greg
