96 ciera 2.2 ran fine. parkedat night next morn wont start.its getting fuel and fire but sounds like its not even trying to start

Check for spark.. pull one spark plug out set it on bare metal(away from cyl hole fuel could light from spark) turn vehicle over and look for spark should be a nice lightning bolt looking spark... blue spark is weak spark.. and see if it's getting spark...,, if not,,."try new plugs.,wires, distributor cap&rotor " also first.spray a little starting fluid down the injection system turn it over and see if it fires.if it does then it's a fuel issue prob not electrical... try that.hope it helps

My wife was driving her 97 bonneville she said it lost all power smoked really bad and barely made it off the road i cramked it over and it wasnt even trying to start would it be fuel or timing

Fuel or timing would not explain the smoke.
Start by checking fluids.
Then do compression check.
Watch for cam so that you can see if timing belt thrown.
You may find water on plugs or something.
Could have thrown timing belt, cracked a piston, etc.
Only after everything seems normal, then try starting fluid spray, to see if may be fuel problem.
Use inductive timing light to ensure spark.

My 1995 jetta gl wont start

The first step is to check and see whats not working, when you say it wont start then do you mean you turn the key and nothing happens then you may have a bad battery or starter but if the engine spins and spins but wont start then you will need to check a few things. First is to check the timing belt, remove the upper timing belt cover and have someone trun the key and make sure the cam spins and the belt is tight if thats okay then the next thing to do is try sparying starting fluid into throtlebody , have some one hold gas pedal to floor then yoiu spray the starting fluid into throtlebody for about 5 sec, then release gas pedal and then try to start. if the car starts then dies after a few seconds then you will know its a fuel problem. if that doesnt do anything then remove a sparkplug wire and stick screwdriver into the end of the sparkplug wire and place it about 1 inch away from a metal part of engine and then have someone try to start car while you watch and see if the screw driver or wire sparks, this will tell you if its getting spark if theres no spark then you may have a bad control module or bad coil, start with these tests to find out whats the reason for no start. If the battery is good then the engine should spin over and the only thing that may be missing is spark or fuel or the timing belt broke, good luck.

Truck will turn over but not start checked fuel pump it puts fuel out when engine is cranked its getting spark out of coil and even tried ether but wont even try to run please help

ok if it wont start on starting fluid you either have no spark or you have internal problems like valve timming or low compression or you can check the distributor and make sure your rotorbutton is turning and not sripped hope this helps

1996 VW Jetta wont start

Check to see if it's getting gas or spray some starter fluid into intake. If it fires, change fuel filter first and try it without starter fluid. If it doesn't start then change fuel pump.
