No most likely the flywheel is bad if you have changed 3 starters already .... it may look normal but it has a worn spot somewhere

If he installed a new or remanufatured starter, I would suspect a weak battery possibly. If he installed a used starter, I would say the starter is bad. A hot engine is harder to crank than a cold engine and if the starter is marginal it will act the way you described. Try boosting your vehicle the next time it's hot, or get your battery load tested by a reputable shop that doesn't sell batteries. I have had experience with remanufactured starters that were no better than the unit I removed from the vehicle. Have him get a second reman and see if that doesn't solve the problem.

I have a 93 pathfinder SE 4X4 automatic transmission that had full power, new starter and battery. Sometimes it will start and sometimes not. By passed starter relay by adding push button start and it started 6-8 times then nothing. I finally figured out that it was the neutral safety or inhibitor switch on the 4 wheel drive shifter. Just an idea..good luck

How do i change the starter motor on a 1993 pathfinder

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold heat insulator.
  2. Remove the fuel tube retainer bolt.
  1. On 2wd models with the 6-cylinder engine:
    1. Remove the front right wheel.
    2. Remove the front gravel shield.
    3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat insulator.
    4. Remove the exhaust manifold.
    5. Detach the oil pressure switch connector.
  2. Unfasten the remaining electrical connections at the starter solenoid.
  3. Remove the two nuts holding the starter to the bell housing, then pull the starter toward the front of the vehicle and out.

To install:

  1. Insert the starter into the bell housing, being sure that the starter drive is not jammed against the flywheel.
  2. Tighten the attaching nuts and secure all electrical connections to the starter assembly.
  3. Install all remaining components in reverse order of removal.
  4. Reconnect the battery cables. If applicable, refill and check the oil level. Check the starter assembly for proper operation.

My 1993 nissan pathfinder starts fine 70% of the time. The other 30% of the time it just clicks when I try to start it. Sometimes when it clicks, it will start after a few tries. A couple of times it has...

unfortunatly it probably is the starter the selinoid is starting to go out. either ther or the wire from the battery to the starter has a break in it.

I had a 1994 pathfinder with the same problem. Direct wire the load pin on the starter solenoid to the positive terminal on the battery with a push-button switch between and mount it on the dash of the car. You will also need to disconnect the existing wire on the load pin of the solenoid and tape it up. This will allow you to engage the starter without the key using the push button, however, you will still need to crank the key to the start position while turning the motor over to give you fuel pressure.

Maybe a temporary solution for you but its worked on my pathfinder for more than 2 years.
