This is a clutch fan. It will engage and disengage. If you hve a cooling problem any autoparts store carries a replacement fan.

Fan not working

I would check my fuses and relays first with a fuse tester. it cost almost nothing to check and may very well be the problem. if all is well try replacing the switches first as it's cheaper than the blower motor. if the switch isn't the problem return it to the store and get a new blower motor. I would think though if you have done anything at all electrically such as stereo etc.etc. it may be a fuse or you forgot to plug something back in

06 Kia Sedona overheats when ac is on. If the ac is off the van will return to normal temps. Had the compressor just replaced and v-belt. Both fans appear to be running when ac is on.

Does the engine over heat or the gauge goes to hot. Really hot. Since the A/C is on , this puts an extra load on the engine. This is why the fans come on when the A/C is turned on. This is usually low speed fan mode. High speed doesn't come on untilll 220 to 230 degrees. Most vehicles. Cars don't over heat untill the gauge gets in the red, when it starts getting close is time to worry and stop. I guess the question to you would be, What does the temp gauge read?

The fan stopped working for the rear AC/heat in our 2003 odyssey. Checked 40amp suqare fuse under hood and it tested ok. Is there a fuse or breaker for the rear fan motor?

The large fuse you checked is for the rear fan blower motor. The fuse you need to check is for the fan motor relays and rear mode control motor. It is fuse No. 3 (7.5A) located in the driver's under dash kick panel fuse box.

If fuse No. 3 is blown and you replace the fuse and it blows immediately, you'll have to check the five relays and the mode control motor all located near the rear A/C unit in the right aft sidewall. Most likely, the mode control doors have become jammed and that is why the fuse blows. The doors shift air from overhead vents (cool) to floor vents (heat).

If the fuse is fine, the trouble is probably with the blower motor itself or the wiring to the blower motor is broken, or there is a bad ground.

No heat or air comes out and was told that the blower motor control was inoperable. Do I need to replace the entire blower motor or is the blower motor control a separate part?

If you have no heat blowing and no force of air in AC or blower mode , your blower motor (fan portion) under dash is the likely culprit. Check your fuses before diving in. As the motor wears the carbon brushes wear out.
A common symptom is that the motor starts and stops going over a bumpy road where its brush connection is intermittently bounced on and off.
If you only have alow or intermediate speed , that would be linked to the speed and motor controls.

Inconsistant fan

It wouldnt be the fuse if it works somewhat. It could be the brushes in the motor are wearing out or it could be even a fault in the plug.
