It sounds like this guy who installed your transmission dinn;t adjust the shift cable correctly or damaged a part that bolts to the drivers side of the transmission called the interlock switch Don;t get me wrong its not an easy job to replace the transmission in your vehicle But paid a lot and it should work I seggest you call the shop and explain you can;t shift the vehicle I have a feeling that its the interlock switch its hooked drectly to the shifting mecanisum its not easy to remove with out damageing and should have been replaced with transmission job its a 20 dollar part it could still be the cable adjustment but at any rate its sure not your fault

yea the guy who replaced it was a friend and did it fairly cheap for us ...but he lives far away and i dont think i want to drive that far is that something that will be a high charge for labor if i take it to the shop..im wondering?
..lol.. i guess this is what i get for teying to save $ huh?

No its not that that bad as long the tranny is fixed get the friend to look at the interlock switch its 20 dollars the most expensive thing or try to ajust the shifter cable and you should be fine

My 2000 chevy blazer is knocking, but from the front of the motor, has good oil pressure. changed the oil & there was very very minute dirt/shavings. Transmission has been acting up going into 2

Check the water pump in the front of your engine for bearings going out. Have your tranny fluid changed & have the 2 shift selonods replaced, if the tranny is OK.

The front windshield washer fluid pump for me 2000 chevy blazer has stopped working. No sound when I press the spray button, just the wipers.

Check the wire harness to the windshield washer pump. The pump is located in the washer fluid reservoir, if the wires are good. Chances are the washer pump needs to be replaced and you can pick up the new pump st Auto Zone or Parts Source and they will have the step by step instructions for you to get the job done with common tools. Good luck and keep me posted.

Would it be hard for a backyard mechanic to install a transmission on a 2000 chevy blazer

Hi:
With a good shop manual, a transmission isn't hard to do. The biggest concern of a backyard transmission swap is man handling the transmission up and down. If you have the ability to get your blazer up on jack stands, and have access to a transmission jack, you should be good to go. I recommend a subscription to : www.alldatadiy.com

For about $20, you will have a good guide for the job.

Can not find dip stick on 2000 chevy blazer

there is no dip stick, this is what they call a sealed transmission, the dealer has a guage to measure fluid level at an access plug on the top of the trans, it is a special GM only tool. also the trans fuid temp must be checked with a Tech 2 scanner to verify fluid is at at least 180 F. before the trans is topped off, what are you doing? trying to change the fluid?

Transmission doesnt seem to engage, no drive indicator on column

I would take it back to the person that rebuilt it and make them fix it again or get your money back if you can
