Question about Dodge Pickup

Open Question

Here is a lot of information about programing a VP44 pump; I made a lot of research in this area ..so...What I can say is this ...only EPS 815 Bosch bench can program...the respossable module from EPS 815 to read/write the maps is VPM 844 Bosch , to read is possible also with KTM systems...but why only EPS 815 bench can do this job??? ...because EPS 815 have a lot of sensors which read the pressure ...rotation speed ...and with this informations the VPM 844 write the new parameters in ECU on pump .The injections pumps have identical software for a same number of pump ( see esitronic documentation ) but different parameters...ECU on VP44,VP30,VP29 have 3 writing areas to write the new parameters so ..the EPS 815 write this ..( so is possible your ECU to have 3 life )when this areas is full your ECU is broken and you need to buy new ECU and after that to reprogram this ecu whith VPM 844 but ( this job is automated done when VPM 844 have all parameters from EPS815 sensors ) ...so...carprog is soft tool to read mybe data from eprom but for this you need also hardware interface to PSG 5 connector ( FPCM connector ) ...so you read this data but this data contains ( software + parameters) if you want to write again ecu...you have possibility to write just 2 free areas parameters....so boot sectors is imposible to write again ...just if ECU is new ...and in this case you need to write the new pump parameters ...so this job can do only EPS 815....yes I know is frustrating but true...this conclusion is the result of many monts of research...maybe I am wrong in this case ...please forgive me ...if you know more please share information best regards

SOURCE: 3 litre tooper 2003 will not start had it checked

Try putting 2 quarts more oil in as sometimes the pick up pipe for the injector oil pump can draw in air cos of cracking .if it works then its crossmember and oil pan off time the rest will be plain to a good tech.
Also the rail oil pressure sensor can go funny - find the big plug and socket of wires by the dipstick handle ,going into the engine they are all pink but on the other side of the plug and socket is one wire that was white might be a bit yellow now - pull that out and try for start - fools the ECU into thinking that oil pressure is ok to fire the injectors .If it runs then its new sensor time .

Where is the power steering pump located?

ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)
The TSX uses Electric Power Steering (EPS) which regulates steering via a computer-actuated electric motor. With the computer-controlled system, advanced algorithms built into the operating software allow for continuous fine-tuning of the steering assist forces so that minimal force is required at low speeds- such as when parking or maneuvering. Conversely, progressively higher steering effort is generated at higher speeds (such as when driving on the freeway) to deliver a sport-minded driving experience.
The EPS system found in the TSX is an evolution of an earlier EPS system found on the Acura NSX supercar. Its key features and advantages include:
  • The EPS system reduces the steering effort at low speeds, improving agility and ease of effort when parking or maneuvering in tight areas
  • Rigidity of the steering mount is higher, which allows a more precise and "connected" feel during high-speed maneuvers (such as during lane changes or when on winding mountain roads)
  • The EPS steering assist incorporates computer algorithms based on vehicle speed rather than engine speed, allowing TSX engineers the flexibility of tailoring the steering feel to match actual driving conditions- especially high-speed driving. The EPS steering algorithms incorporate steering assist changes for every 0.6 mph.
  • The EPS system is different (and uniquely tuned) for each of the TSX models: 2.4L I-4 sedan, 3.5L V-6 sedan, and the new Sport Wagon.
  • EPS employs a sporty, 13.5:1 steering ratio which further improves performance driving agility
  • In its evolution from the original NSX system, the TSX's EPS system uses a significantly more powerful electric motor teamed with a far more sophisticated microprocessor
  • By eliminating the conventional power steering pump assembly, EPS uses less engine power which improves acceleration and fuel efficiency
it is an electric pump without a pulley or belt or fluid apparently

EPS light is turn on how can i turn off its?

EPS

EPS: Electronic Power Steering - enables the amount of assistance with steering to be varied depending on speed and how much you turn the wheel. This means it can give lots of boost when parking the car whilst still giving you a good feel for the road at speed.

Where is a power steering pump located on a 4 cylinder chevy cobalt ls

Your Cobalt is not equiooed with a Power Steering Pump. It has electric power steering. See the description below.

Power Steering - System Description and Operation
The electric power steering (EPS) system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle. The system uses the body control module (BCM), power steering control module (PSCM), torque sensor, discrete battery voltage supply circuit, EPS motor, serial data bus, and the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center to perform the system functions. The PSCM, torque sensor, not the EPS motor are serviced separately from each other or from the steering column. Any EPS components diagnosed to be malfunctioning requires replacement of the steering column assembly, also known as the EPS assembly.

Have you ever had the mechanical lift pump go out on these vehicles? If the fuel pressure drops under 5psi on the VP44 injection pump for any length of time, the diaphrams get weakened and especailly when the warmer seasons come back, you will notice fuel delivery problems. A new/rebuilt pressure pump is required! Sorry for the bad news, if indeed this is the case. One solution/prevention is to replace the lift pump with the upgraded Mopar (goes into the tank now) or an aftermarket pump like the FASS pump or the like. Anyone that has the VP44 injection pump should upgrade ASAP! This is a common problem on the OEM mechanical lift pump on this particular run of Rams. Need to do it before you run up a costly repair bill later on down the road. The stock/OEM lift pumps WILL go out, sometimes as little as 12k miles, sometimes 50k miles.....I had 3 go out, Stock at 43k, Mopar replacement lasted 31k and the 3rd (aftermarket OEM) lasted 14k. I had a fuel pressure guage installed a very long time ago to alert me of failures. The 4th go around I installed the FASS and now it maintains 21 to 27psi even with chip mods switched to extreme! I am still on original VP44 pump (knock on wood!)
Good Luck!
